Razor Blade Smile(1998) A leather clad Vampire/Hit Woman/Seductress on the prowl. Light hearted, but not exactly a comedy either. More style than logic, but with enough fun moments to make it worth a watch. 5/10

Fear No Evil (1981) Welp, since I was on my Omen kick, I decided to give this one another spin. It is basically Damien Goes to High School. I remember watching this one years and years ago and just laughing myself silly at it, and time has not changed my opinion. This thing is just campy and ridiculous and incompetent at every turn. I'm honestly surprised it doesn't have a stronger so-bad-it's-good cult following. Wanna see a guy get killed by a dodgeball? Wanna see a guy magically grow boobs and respond by immediately stabbing himself to death? Wanna see an anti-Christ who alternates seemingly at random between an awkward, quiet, closeted high school geek and a frequently naked, cape-clad, animal-sacrificing, blood-drinking, lunatic rapist? Oh yes, there's a whole lot of WTF factor going on in this one. Well worth a look for that alone, plus the incredible, rockin' soundtrack. You've got Patti Smith, Richard Hell, The Sex Pistols, Talking Heads, and the Ramones. It's just great! I guess music licensing was less expensive back in '81... The Mortuary CollectionOh, it's been so long since there's been a good old-fashioned horror omnibus that was actually worth a damn. Too many of them made in recent years have been utter fly-by-night, bargain bin crap (like the recent Tales from the Hood sequels or American Nightmares). Compared with those, this movie was just a breath of fresh air. It really put me in that Creepshow/ Tales from the Crypt mindset of pure, childlike, morbid joy. And you'd be hard-pressed to find yourself a better horror host than a gleefully ghoulish Clancy Brown, made up to look like Angus Scrimm/Alistair Sim/live-action Mr. Burns. The movie's worth checking out just for him, but the rest of it is the most fun I've had with a horror anthology in years.

The Man Who Haunted Himself (1970) by Basil Dearden "Espionage isn't all James Bond on Her Majesty's Secret Service. Industry goes in for it too, you know." A seemingly successful family and businessman (Roger Moore), gets involved in a nasty car accident. And while he seems to recover from it, with no serious injuries, something has still changed within. As everywhere he travels, and whoever he meets. There is a constant chilling feel and reminder, of always being one step behind of a rather familiar face. I have long been meaning of giving this post-James Bond Roger Moore thriller, a go, and just recently picked up the neat looking/sounding Blu-ray/DVD combo release, and yeah, I really like this interesting, well played and elegant british psychological thriller, where Roger puts in, surely one of his finest performances, and one can wonder, where his career might have gone, if he did not take over the 007 part, a few years later. 7/10

Possessor: Uncut Version (2020) It feels like we're entering another Golden Age of Canadian Horror, not seen since the 80's. Brandon Cronenberg's latest is crazy good! I'm just gonna post my entire Letterboxd review: Gotta love it when a movie has you so excited that you don't know even where to start reviewing it from. Well, here goes...
In the not so distant future, a secret organization can access the bodies of others, and uses this technology to possess them with assassins who then kill for them. It's an incredibly amoral and terrifying concept.
Andrea Riseborough plays Tasya Vos, a married mother of a young son. She goes off to work to take over the bodies of people and then forces them to commit suicide when she's done, so that she may return to her own body. How incredibly corrupt and evil is that? And she's the person we're meant to root for? When Tasya takes over the body of Colin Tate, things hit a major snag when Tate manages to wrestle some form of control back from her. I won't reveal anything else other than to say this gets wild and warped.
Brandon Cronenberg, you sick bastard! I love that you inherited your father's love of all that is squeamishly provocative and good old fashioned dystopian creativity too. I did not love his last movie, Antiviral, nearly as much as I hoped, but Possessor is an incredible work of art. I watched the uncut version, and there are three major violent stabbing incidents that were so brutal and graphic that they would shock even the most jaded horror aficionados. I was uncomfortable, but in the best way possible, if that makes sense, because a movie was affecting me as intended.
Cronenberg shocks us, but he makes us think too. It's not hard to think this sort of thing really isn't too far off in reality, which is where the true horror lies.
Highly recommended for horror fans and people with strong constitutions who enjoy thought provoking horror/sci-fi with a sophisticated edge
