Whenever I catch any news about it, there's talk of adding yet another sequel. First 2, then 3, now apparently 4.
Not than I'm that interested but Cameron is a trusted brand so...

last I heard Cameron was quoted as saying they would start filming in August (all the screenplays are apparently complete) . So it looks like the Dec 2018 release date is still doable for Avatar 2. We shall see though .
