They better find some more leading ladies for the show because it’s getting stacked with a lot of men now. Days did a good job of keeping his casting under wraps because he debuts this coming Monday and I don’t think there were any rumors about his return. Here’s the article below. I actually liked him on BS1 and I think he’s a good actor:
The last time we saw Peter Porte in the Days universe he was playing ISA agent Kyle Graham who was revealed to be a double agent in episode 5 of Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem. Fortunately, his character’s evil plot was stopped but buckle up Days fan because Porte’s joined the mothership and Kyle’s no longer hiding his real identity, Dimitri von Leuschner. Soap Opera News had a chance to sit down with Peter right before he jetted off for a vacation and we’re excited to share what he had to say about his return.
We started off by going back to where his character left off at the end of Beyond Salem, “I was an Isa agent. But in the final episode, we learn that he has been playing the long game, he's been playing a very long game. He's been undercover for all of this time but he’s actually Dimitri von Leuschner, who is an Eastern European, problematic, complicated man, who doesn't bat an eye at annihilating multiple cities across the globe.”
“I thought that that was the end. That was fun. See you later and then suddenly I got that call in October of last year, and they said, ‘Would you like to come back?’ I thought, I'll come back and do a couple of episodes and then a week later I received a contract for an extended period of time.”
Jumping back in was a bit different than his experience on Beyond Salem, “Coming back, I had to play this new character, not Kyle, but Dimitri von Leuschner, and, at first, there wasn't a ton of clarity for me as to where this character was going, so it’s fun that we'll find out together.”
Without giving away too much, Peter was able to tell us, “I get there, and right off the bat, I have Kate held hostage on a fishing boat. He's still a bad guy, but we don't fully know his motives yet.”
He also shared, “I like to think of him as a complicated, broken person from a broken home. Very stoic, very serious, very controlled, very driven, very meticulous, very Machiavellian, and then just letting that be one part of him when there's another very much softer, sweeter side.”
About the debut of his character and what happens going forward, he said, “The beginning, especially, is very fun. They cover a lot of ground in the beginning, and then once we get to Salem, all hell breaks loose!”
Peter was so incredibly gracious to agree to this interview when he was so busy packing for his trip and then he was sweet enough to thank us! “Thank you for doing this early. I’m literally packing to go to Egypt tomorrow. When Lia (Maiuri, VP of Communications for Days of Our Lives) called, she said, ‘Can you do this on Monday?’ I said ‘Probably not. It's 9 hours ahead. I'm going to be on a camel. I don’t know if that’s going to make for the best cell service.’”
He shared that he’s still shooting at Days and by the time his first episode airs he will have already shot over 40 episodes. “It's so nice to be back on daytime. I've missed you all. I'm so excited for you to see what happens with this character because the journey that I've been on with him, it's been so surprising.” We’re excited too! Stay tuned for more from our great conversation with Peter Porte and enjoy his Days of Our Lives debut on Monday, May 8th.
