Can you believe it's been 30 years since this sci-fi action satire masterpiece hit the big screen? loved this since i was a kid when i saw it on the big screen with my old man and thought it rocked, i had a few of the toys as a kid, had the Terminator vs Robocop comic by Frank Miller and watched the weekday afternoon animated show.
Who knew that a violent as hell and funny work of action, Sci-fi and satire kicked some ass.

However, it's a FANTASTICALLY GREAT film...a MASTERPIECE as you said (typed actually). YES...IT ROCKS!!!

I saw it twice in 1987! Predator as well.
The newspaper ads said for weeks "he's still not stopping for donuts."
I think it was a "sleeper" hit.

I didn't get to experience it in theaters in 1987, but I owned all three movies on VHS in the 1990s. I absolutely loved everything about the first and second films.
The third was meh. Peter Weller is the only RoboCop.

Two big things I recall about the first time I saw it in the theaters was: 1) The lobby display life-sized cardboard cutout of Robocop stepping out of his squad car like the movie poster. 2) The scene where Peter Weller's character is killed to become Robocop. That first time in the theatre that scene was so intense and the sound was balanced just right that I could feel every shot and you felt like you were there in the scene. Ever since the other times I've seen it there is no intense feeling it feels flat. It doesn't grab me like it did that first time. It probably never will.
