Great artist, incredibly resilient, who had an extraordinary 'comeback'.
Much respect!

I LOVED (actually, I still do) the song and the video for "What's Love Got To Do With It". I was 9 or 10 at the time. I thought Tina was in her late 20s. Nope - she was in her mid 40s. I then thought....I hope I look as good as she does when I'm her ago. Well....I'm here now, and I don't. RIP Tina Turner. Joker's Wilde

Finally picked up her 1984 album Private Dancer on Tuesday, then the next day the news of her passing arrived.
While I never was a huge fan, I did enjoy several of her hits and also the very first concert I attended was together with my dad in summer of 1996, when Tina visited Norway and Oslo. I guess the one thing that I remember the most, was how loud and intense the sound really were, as if the sound came rushing through me.
However, I have given the mentioned 1984 release a few listen today, and gotta say it was a far better record than the other one I have heard from Turner, in the not so impressive Foreign Affair (1989).
My favorite songs was actually made probably a bit earlier, where the synthpop band Heaven 17 under the name of B.E.F. produced two great cover songs with Tina in Ball of Confusion (which was a big surprise hit in Norway) and the much bigger Let's Stay Together.
Also loved the use of her hitsingle What's Love Got to Do With It in part 2 of the classic double episode of Miami Vice and Calderone's Return, where Tubbs ends up falling for the daughter of the drug baron who killed his older brother. The use of the Tina Turner classic fitted so well in with that heartbreaking scene of the 80s show.
