When I used to buy Cheerios a few decades ago, I noticed that if I didn't finish the box in 2 weeks, there would be these tiny little worms crawling around. Any grain type food will have either bugs or worms after a period of time.

Catman has never had bugs.
But resealable bags would be nice.

I haven't noticed bugs. Gross! But I do love the idea of resealable bads! Genius!

I find myself studying the dust at the bottom of the bag. But I have enough airtight containers to start using.

Catman uses a chip clip.

I use a big binder clip, but that doesn't stop bugs.

Bugs?! WTH do you get your cereal from? We used to have a cottage up north by the Dells. Because no one went there from Labor Day until deer hunting-then no one again until Easter, there were always boxes of pretty much everything you could imagine in the cupboard. Moi who is a stickler for cleaning, cooking, straightening... would go thru all this food inc. every kind of cereal you can think of-most open not shut, so forth. Never a bug in any of them-stale, but no bugs. And we're talking up north, lots of woods, trees, bugs.... Maybe get your cereal someplace else.....I'll never look at cereal the same again.

If I remember correctly there are 'bug' eggs in almost all types of cereal and grains. www.thespruce.com/what-is-a-weevil-2656439I still remember as kids, the time my brother was eating LIFE cereal and little worms floated up out of the milk!! I also remember biting into a Cherry Mash candy (bought in a drugstore with no A/C) and finding tiny maggots inside.

I said cereal. There were bugs in it. Apparently the box had been open quite some time and no one had eaten any in forever. Then again, they can't do you any harm.

Brad puts his in the fridge after opening. Same with spaghetti and other grain foods. Seems to work.

One of the supermarket chains up here has come out with this: They got rid of the box to "cut down" on garbage. BUT you could recycle the box. This is just garbage.

Resealable bags seem like a great idea. Unless I'm missing something, I think you're highly onto something.
I'm not a cereal guy, really. I like Rice Krispies and only Rice Krispies, and only with milk. I like dull, boring cereals. Even as a kid cereal looked ridiculous to me. My first ever Fruit-Loop felt like the most sugar I'd ever had in my life. My point is though that for the Rice Krispies in my house, I I just roll up the top of the bag and use a clothespin to somewhat close it.
It could also depend where you store it. Mine are up high in a pantry.

I'm not a cereal eater but sometimes I would buy Cheerios, I don't drink milk so I would eat them dry like a snack, often frying them with butter and salt, now I never eat cereal - I have to watch what I eat and much to my surprise I found out that most cereals are very unhealthy. I have to limit my carbs and sugars.

I've always taken the waxed paper bag from the box, when I first open it. I keep the bag in the fridge, and roll the excess paper down, sealing it with a common kitchen clamp. The box goes to re-cycling. I do the same thing with crackers, like Triscuits.
I don't eat cold cereal very often, so a bag lasts a long time in the fridge ... and, it doesn't take up much space.
Never noticed any bugs. They probably don't thrive in the cold.
Resealable bags may be a good idea, but wouldn't they have to be plastic? That would be more costly, and the prices would go up.

Actually, the price of the cereal went down. What bothers me is that they are the non-recyclable type of plastic. We can't recycle resealable bags where I live. Maybe if I cut off the "seal" part..
