This performer starred as a football player in one film, and nearly 40 years later, played a baseball player in his final theatrical film. Who was the actor?

Burt Lancaster ? JIM THORPE -- ALL AMERICAN (football) FIELD OF DREAMS (baseball) Correct! Lancaster played two real-life people, Thorpe and Archibald "Moonlight" Graham, but Thorpe's bio was about as historically accurate as Graham meeting Kevin Costner in his cornfield. One unforgivable alteration: When the king of Sweden pronounced Thorpe to be the greatest athlete in the world, Lancaster's Thorpe solemnly replies, "Thank you, Your Majesty." In real life, Thorpe grinned and replied, "Thanks, King!" One of his most famous moments, and the movie screwed it up. Happy Birthday, Jim Thorpe!

Dore Schary told a classic story about casting this film on the Cavett show Unfortunately if I post the punchline I'll get banned
