Photo size horizontal reduction

Landscape photos get reduced pretty significantly, with a lot of room still remaining on the right side. The max seems to be 600 pixels. Yeah, you can click through but most people don't.

Could that be increased globally to say, 640 pixels, which is more standard? TIA
