Both are quite good but going with the Batman on this one.

If I'm being honest, I enjoy FC more. It's sloppier than BB, but I found it more emotionally engaging. Fassbender's turn as Magneto is also better than anyone in Begins, including and especially Bale.

I wasn’t quite expecting the poll to be this one-sided.

I wasn’t quite expecting the poll to be this one-sided. It's Christopher Nolan vs a movie made by someone who is not Christopher Nolan. On the second spinoff of a website that ranks his worst Batman movie the 70th greatest film of all time.

On the second spinoff of a website that ranks his worst Batman movie the 70th greatest film of all time. It's not as bad as all that I don't think. As someone who voted for Batman Begins it's not because First Class is bad. I think it's one of the best and most refreshing X-Men movies, like one of those citrus-y wet cloths you sometimes get at Chinese buffets.
Having watched Batman Begins not long ago (not for the first time, I saw it in theaters), the only scene that I don't adore is Bruce and his dates swimming around in the restaurant fountain. I understand conceptually that he'll do anything to throw people off the scent so he'll never be suspected as Batman, but it's half a degree too cringe.
Aside from that, it flows even better than I remember, especially into the beginning of the third act.
First Class is still dope though. I've always been of the opinion that Days of Future Past, which was also a good movie, was one of my least favourites for a while because it undid so much of First Class and brought it back to the old cast.

Bruce's methods to seem like a dumb playboy are consistently some of his most enjoyable moments in the Nolan trilogy for me, actually. If you called out the moment right after that, where he runs into Rachel (played terribly by Katie Holmes) who hasn't seen him in 7 years and immediately starts talking down to him, I'd co-sign there. Or any scene with Rachel, for that matter. (not that Begins is lacking in cringy attempts at comic relief. I hate when he looks over and sees the same homeless guy he traded his coat with 7 years prior, who just so happens to be nonchalantly hanging out 5 feet way from a massive gun fight, and does the "Nice coat" callback) As far as its flow goes....eh. I think it has the usual origin movie problem where it feels like two movies, and the one where you see Bruce become Batman is a lot more interesting than the one where he is being Batman.

I wasn’t quite expecting the poll to be this one-sided. I was done with X-Men after X3. I wasn't avoiding them, I was just not on for another ride.

First Class is my favourite X-Men movie but as a Batman fanatic I must vote for Batman Begins.
