I’m talking about the ones without famous people. Just ordinary people who get into something. I don’t like these at all but one of my relatives was watching one and it pulled me in like a spinning dust devil. The Ultimatum (Queer Love)It’s the second round. Last time, it was hetero couples but this time it’s just ladies. One person in each couple wants to get married and the other doesn’t. At the end of the season, they either get engaged or they split up. Or……… In the middle, the group sorts into five new couples that they chose after spending a week getting to know everyone else. They choose their new mates. Then…. The new couples spend three weeks living together in a “trial marriage” where they can choose to have sex with each other. Or not. All the original partners are called “exes” so it isn’t really cheating. Some new partners do sex, as mentioned, and some don’t. After three weeks in this “trial marriage”, they all go back to their original partners for another three week “trial marriage”. After they have this “trial marriage”, they part from each other and there is a decision day. One by one, the couples show up and either: 1. Get engaged. 2. Split up. 3. Get engaged to the new person from their trial marriage. In the last season, when one couple got engaged, they were hit with a flash wedding (legal) at that moment so they were instantly married. This whole thing is an invitation to some massive heartbreaks - and they do happen. Some of the ladies in the current season are masculine and they have tended to be the ones who sometimes cry uncontrollably. Anyway - Netflix has the decision show(s) on Wednesday. Not sure if it takes one or two shows to reveal who is ending up with who out of five couples. My family is mesmerized. I’m glad I don’t normally watch these things but this one got us hooked. What a premise for all this. Anyway, do you guys ever get caught up in some of these?

Not really. In the past, I watched more realistic programs like Morgan Spurlock's "30 Days". I don’t watch garbage like "The Kardashians" or any show starring some washed-up, has-been celebrity.

I used to watch Dancing with the Stars with my mom, and Hell's Kitchen with my ex. That's about it. They can be entertaining but the formula gets tiring.
I have a friend who constantly brings up Big Brother and Survivor to try to get me interested, like if they mention it enough times I'll be compelled to watch.

I don't mind watching game shows every now and then, but for the most part I don't watch them. Especially when they revolve around people's daily lives in which I literally couldn't give any shits about.

No not really. I remember enjoying Survivor when it first premiered but the novelty wore off pretty quickly.

The only reality show I’ve ever really been able to get into is Big Brother. Ironically the few celebrity US seasons they did kinda bored me. I like just regular people the best. I’ve tried watching several other reality shows, but I’ve never really been able to get into them.

I watch the local (Australian) version of MasterChef with my partner
Occasionally we'll have House Hunters or some renovation program on in the background while we're making/eating breakfast on weekends

The only reality shows I watched consistently for awhile were the "hoarder" shows and "Fixer Upper".
They both involved horrible places being turned into nice homes.
I liked the happy endings, especially for the hoarders. Some of these situations were just tragic and people were pulled out of horror-filled situations to start living in normal surroundings. I think one of the ones that got me the most was a guy with a PTSD disability who was living in a very small studio apartment that was in a building for disabled people. His little place was filled almost bottom to top with junk and he was given notice that he would be evicted within a month if he didn't fix it.
He used to wake up in the morning and go out all day long because he couldn't stand to be in this place except for the one spot where he could sleep.
The hoarder fixers came over and they saved his rental contract by turning the place into a perfectly neat little studio apartment. They also gave him a desk with a laptop so he had things to do at home.
The "Fixer Upper" shows did remodeling and then interior design. The end designs were out-of-this-world spectacular. It's a husband-wife team and the wife is an interior designer genius, as far as I'm concerned. I loved the endings, again.

Nope. At least not unless Gogglebox counts. I used to watch that back in 2021.

I occasionally watch home improvement shows, but I don't watch reality shows at all. Oh, I have watched so many home improvement shows - I used to love them dearly!!
I've always loved the idea of remodeling a home.
I'm preparing to build a cargo van camper next year out of an empty cargo van so I'll get my remodeling fun this way.
I look at the plans and imagine new ideas for them nearly every day.
This is for a family vacation cargo van camper that different family members would take turns using.
