In horror movies none of the characters read the cues given them by animals. This is especially frustrating for my pet cat Gordie when it comes to Alien. No kidding. If my dog suddenly stands with its fur up on end and she growls at the door, teeth fully bared, I know its time to get the gun. Of if she suddenly whimpers and hides under the couch.

Does anybody else get annoyed when the score is so loud that it tends to drown out dialogue? I'm of the mind that a score CAN be too bombastic. My peeve is when dialogue is whispered/spoken so softly I cannot hear it, even on a blu ray at 24 on the volume bar (loud enough for everything else). Or the characters speak so quickly that I can't catch all the words. So I basically have the subtitles on for everything nowadays. Except a Death Wish dvd, which very helpfully had subtitles in French and Spanish but not English.

Or the person will say "What is it boy?" and then stand in front of the nearest window, door, elevator shaft etc... and wait to be grabbed by a monster

A pet peeve of mine is when a movie smacks the viewer upside the head with scene after scene of exposition dialogue.
That's one reason why I don't like Inception as much as I used to.

My pet peeve: I cannot stand all the distracting studio logos these days. It seems like every film is produced/distributed by 50 different studios who all need to draw attention to themselves with a ten second short film to begin the movie. It's distracting, especially when they have a completely different style (i.e., technological as opposed to period piece)from the film that is about to start. Aaargh. I think it should be limited to two companies: main studio/distributor, then the secondary studio/production company. Attention, Sony: take your name off, it's already the byline for Columbia and the other companies you own.
