This pretty much says it all, as far as why I don't watch the NBA anymore. It's a pussy league for one dimensional players who wouldn't have made a roster in the 80s or 90s. The goddamn commissioner is saying what I've been saying for years. Adam Silver Explains Why There's A Lack Of Defense In The Modern NBAThe so-called 'greatest shooter of all time' (who I saw this morning missed another game winner at the buzzer last night), a guy who's been MVP of this league, literally wouldn't be able to play in the 1990s according to (me, and now also) the commissioner of the league. What the fuck. A "big strong player could come in and prevent" you from scoring? Then find a new way to score, you pussy. Get some actual athleticism, learn how to play basketball, which is about more than launching uncontested threes all night. Well, it used to be before about ten years ago. These clowns are dropping 60 and 70 points like it's nothing because you aren't allowed to defend them in any real way. You can't even close out on a shooter without worrying about being in his 'landing space' when he comes down and getting a technical foul. Imagine David Stern in the 90s saying Michael Jordan or Gary Payton or literally any other player wouldn't have been able to play in the the 1960s. The everyone gets a trophy generation completely took over a sport, and lowered the bar to a point where the superstars of the league wouldn't be able to hack it 30 years ago! I don't ever want to hear some asshole tell me Luka Doncic is better than Larry Bird, or Lebron racking up meaningless stats in a wide open league makes him better than MJ, or how Steph Curry is the greatest shooter of all time when this motherfucker has like one buzzer beater for his entire career, of how Jayson Tatum's 55 points in the ASG last year are amazing when the highlights consist of players just standing around watching him launch three pointers. It's a shit league for losers, quitters and part-timers. "Playoff foul" used to be a common term, now it's been replaced by "flagrant 2." Michael Jordan played every single regular season and playoff game for the Bulls during their second threepeat. Today, we have "load management" to the point they had to institute a rule about quotas for games played and award eligibility. It boggles the fucking mind that long time fans can still enjoy this trash.

Glass LED floor for ASG skills night. Wood floor for the game though.
I think the ebb & flow of the game will come around again, not least once Steph retires & he takes some of his eye test influence away. SGA, Wemby, Chet, there's enough future superstar youth coming along that don't seem like point chasers. Luka, he'll need a ring in his prime to truly become a legend. All the comparisons to Bird are hilarious without a 2-way game or playoff domination.
Apples & orange: NFL Network was airing their annual SB history highlights binge or whatever - Raiders-Vikings, Oakland were all but murdering Vikings receivers. So many insta-suspsension worthy blow-ups. Games, leagues, rules... they all change with the times.
I'd bet there's female roster spots within 20yrs on NBA teams.
Alas, NBA will be expanding by at least 2 - Seattle & Las Vegas, thus watering the product down even more... & this with an upcoming draft that has ppl suggesting the entire lineup is a joke.

Trades
The Philadelphia 76ers traded Jaden Springer to the Boston Celtics for a second-round pick, and the Celtics traded Dalano Banton to the Portland Trail Blazers for a second-round pick, ESPN reported.
The Milwaukee Bucks, in search of defensive help on the perimeter, acquired guard Patrick Beverley from the Philadelphia 76ers for Cam Payne and a 2027 second-round pick. The Bucks were trying hard to bolster their defense and also sought Utah’s Kris Dunn, who has helped spur Utah’s turnaround.
The Phoenix Suns are trading for Royce O’Neale as part of a three-team deal, The Arizona Republic and The Athletic reported. The 6-6 guard is averaging 7.4 points and shooting 36.6 from 3 in 49 games this season. The Suns will send three second-round picks and salary to the Nets. As part of the deal, David Roddy goes from Memphis to Phoenix for pick swaps.
The Toronto Raptors traded guard Dennis Schroder and forward Thad Young to the Brooklyn Nets for guard Spencer Dinwiddie The Raptors are planning to waive Dinwiddie, who is expected to become a prime target in the buyout market.
The Charlotte Hornets traded forward P.J. Washington and two second-round draft picks to Dallas for Grant Williams, Seth Curry and a 2027 first-round draft pick.
The New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons have completed a deal that will send Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks to New York, the Knicks announced. Detroit, which has the worst record in the NBA, will receive Quentin Grimes, Evan Fournier, Malachi Flynn, Ryan Arcidiacono and second-round picks. The 33-18 Knicks continue to reshape their roster for the playoffs. They acquired OG Anunoby last month in a trade with Toronto, and Bogdanovic and Burks are scorers who should give the Knicks' seventh-ranked offense a boost.
The Oklahoma City Thunder bolstered their roster for a playoff run, acquiring forward Gordon Hayward from the Charlotte Hornets for Tre Mann, Davis Bertans, Vasilije Micic and draft considerations. The Thunder are 35-16 and tied for first in the Western Conference. Hayward, who averages 14.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.6 points, should be a solid fit for a team that did not want to make drastic changes while still improving.
The Washington Wizards are trading center Daniel Gafford to the Dallas Mavericks for Richaun Holmes and draft considerations.
The Utah Jazz sent center Kelly Olynk and guard Ochai Agbaji to the Toronto Raptors for Kira Lewis, Otto Porter and a 2024 first-round pick, ESPN reported.
The Philadelphia 76ers dealt guard Danuel House to the Detroit Pistons.
The Philadelphia 76ers acquired guard Buddy Hield from the Indiana Pacers for Marcus Morris, Furkan Korkmaz and multiple second-round picks. The Sixers need additional outside shooting and get help in that area with Hield, who is shooting 38.4% on 3s and averaging 12 points this season.
Feb. 7: The Detroit Pistons traded guard Monte Morris to the Minnesota Timberwolves for guards Shake Milton and Troy Brown Jr. and a second-round pick, The Athletic and ESPN reported. Morris is a veteran guard but missed the first three months of the season with a quadriceps injury and returned Jan. 24. He has played limited minutes in six games but has averaged at least 10 points and three assists in the three previous seasons.
Feb. 7: The Memphis Grizzlies traded forward Xavier Tillman to the Boston Celtics for Lamar Stevens and two second-round draft picks, both teams announced. The Celtics have the best record in the NBA (38-12) and the best starting five. But they are in need of depth and got more in Tillman, a versatile, blue-collar player who can defend, rebound and take advantage of offensive opportunities. Tillman averages 6.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks this season.
Feb. 7: The Detroit Pistons reached a deal to acquire forward Simone Fontechhio from the Utah Jazz for forward Kevin Knox, a 2024 first-round draft pick and the draft rights to 21-year-old Gabriele Procida, the No. 36 pick in the 2022 draft. Fontecchio, who is a restricted free agent after the season, averages 8.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists and shoots 39.1% on 3-pointers and has been a key part of Utah's depth and resurgence. He has scored a season-high 24 points twice this season. (via Washington), draft rights to Gabriele Procida

The Kobe statue is ugly and underwhelming. His neck looks like a grey alien. 1 down, 2 to go. 3 statues is a lot at once.

Scottie Barnes 3rd triple double of the season... Raps 0-3 in those games. Lottery!
Steph Curry making clutch 3's look silly.

Dray almost tossed again. Utah finally drops from the top 10, Lakers and Warriors in 9 and 10 spots; it would take Dallas, New Orleans, Phoenix or Sacramento to drop for either to move up. 32 games and the All-Star break left.

Wemby with a live F-bomb on TNT pre-game desk tonight when asked if Pop has ever been stern with him - in a team video meeting once. Shaq was stoic, Charles giggled I think, & Kenny died.

What a shame I missed the All-Star game. A bigger 3-point contest than the actual 3-point contest.

What a shame I missed the All-Star game. A bigger 3-point contest than the actual 3-point contest. People used to joke about a team getting 200 points. Final was 211-186. There were 3 fouls total. I can't even watch the "highlights."

I watched the all-Star game a bit last night. It was so boring to the point of painful that I had to stop punishing mmyself. The ball went back and forth the court so frequently that it was like a volleyball game. This is no basketball. At one point back in the days when I did enjoy the all-star game. At least they returned to the East-West format.
