The discs finally come out this week. Hard to believe that years of waiting finally comes to an end for The Abyss and True Lies.

For those who have gotten the discs, what are your impressions of them?

I heard all three are subject to film grain removal and AI tinkering to make the films look more modern. James Cameron is a revisionist. Still I will pick up The Abyss and True Lies since crappy old DvDs are the only releases available

The store where I buy my blu-rays were sold out of True Lies, unsurprisingly. So I had to order it.
But hey, this is a sign that physical media will live on.

I'm really torn on whether or not I want to make the upgrade from Bluray to 4K on Aliens (as well as the original). I have the 4-movie box set on Bluray, and while I know that the third and fourth entries are a step down from the first two I still think they're pretty good...but I know they're likely NEVER going to be released on 4K so I'd be breaking up the set. Damn these First World problems.

Damn these First World problems. I find the quality of 4k over bly ray kinda miniscule. I've upgraded some titles out of conspicuous consumption more than anything. On Black Friday I got the Matrix quadrilogy, and watched the second one in 1080p on accident and didn't even notice. Although an upgrade from dvd to 4k is spectacular. Reservoir Dogs looks magnificent.

I was going to comment that those aren't titles owned by the Mouse House who can be notoriously stingy with their releases...but then I remembered they're owned by Warner Bros., who are notoriously cheap when it comes to their home video. I'm trying to wrap my head around the idea that these two stinkers are available on 4k, but none of the Lethal Weapon movies are. Say what you want about the quality of that franchise's third and fourth entries, but they're still miles better than these two.
