between the ages of one and two
all babies
make gestures

their open palms.
some drooling,
some tempted by a song.
proclaiming to the masses
precisely how
we can
and should get along.
of course,
this rarely enters the minds of monsters
consumed
by the proposition
that for every evil empire
there needs be
an
even wickeder one
waiting in the wings
to vaporize the young
with
gestures from hands
who just can't seem to massage
enough guns.
