Watched it a little while back for the first time and greatly enjoyed it. It's like The Breakfast Club meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Great cast, good sense of humor, good practical effects, and good thrills. Looking up how this movie did and noticed it didn't do anywhere near as good as the previous Kevin Williamson movies like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer and seems like it just came and went and nobody remembers it. They were definitely trying to mimic the success of Scream with the December release date, similar marketing, and it basically being the alien invasion version of Scream. Guess the sci fi/alien element wasn't as appealing to teenagers/young adults as masked killers

It's one of my faves of that era of horrors. As usual I don't give the faintest hint of a damn how it did at the box office.

Ah, but did the entire cast of Scream wear Tommy Hilfiger? And did Wes Craven give a black pop star 6 lines of dialogue so they could halfway justify putting him on the poster? Don't think so! The fact that they released it on Christmas day is kind of insane. Scream only did well because of word of mouth (its first week was considered somewhat mediocre) and by the end of '98 the quippy teen horror genre was already getting played out. All that said, I've always liked this movie. It was a mainstay in my family and we can quote it to each other and instantly recognize it ("This IS the test", "Guaranteed to jack you up"). I even did that random jock's "That chick weakens legs, Meat" a couple of months ago and my mom knew it was Faculty despite never understanding what the guy said just because of my delivery of it. Crazy cast. All of the teachers are great, and the teens hold their own. Josh Hartnett was the the coolest fucking dude ever with his double layers and Dumb and Dumber haircut. Shame he screwed his career up for awhile. I still want that 70s Pontiac.

They kind of did that with Scream 2 and 3 where they put Jada Pinkett and that Tyson guy on the posters despite being minor characters

I enjoyed it. It was a fun sci fi horror flick. I'm biased towards sci fi and fantasy I'll admit. I wasn't old enough to see it when it came out, not that I'd even heard of it back then.

Bud from The Cosby Show was just random, though.
