No SEC, instead it's a Big 10 affair. Michigan's run game vs Washington's air attack. The Wolverines are 5 point betting favorites. Who you got?

Nice game, Mike Penix. He got his numbers against the pathetic PAC defenses

Turned it on it was 17-3. Fell asleep. Saw from 20-13. Heard the Michigan fight song more than I could stand.

I figured Michigan would win, I had them by 10, but didn't see that coming. It was an odd game, because I would say it was closer than the score indicated, but when it was close, I felt like it was closer than it should have been. Michigan really dominated the game start to finish, the only time Washington had any bit of success against Michigan's D was when they had a short field to work with. Or, anytime Washginton seemed to make a big play, it came back for a penalty.
Michigan deserved it, really think they were the best team in the country this year

This will be seen as a huge turning point in CFB history. The end of the PAC, the strengthening of the SEC and the expanded playoff will change everything. Regular season games won't mean as much. It will take me years to think of Texas as an SEC team (Hell, I still think SWC at times) or Oregon in the same conference with Michigan. And the SEC gets the better bargain. Texas and Oklahoma will be tough next year. The LA Teams weren't very good and won;t get better. And Oregon and Washington will be looking or new QB's.

It'll be interesting, but it is sort of sad to see the regional conferences just die. As a Big Ten fan, it will take a very long time to get used to seeing west coast teams as part of our conference schedule. I don't like it now, but I'm sure after a decade, it will seem normal

I just saw a program all about the release of next year's SEC schedule. Better matchups all year long. That will mean more than most of the dreck "who cares" games in the beginning of the season, and, in the SEC's case at the end of the regular season too are gone. And they'll all mean something. Texas and Oklahoma will be tough next year? But it means regular season games won't mean as much? Garbage. Big 10 champ eliminated the SEC champ and won the title. We'll see who is stronger moving forward. Next year's playoff formula would have included Georgia this year. That would have made the playoffs more entertaining to me.

The Michigan-Ohio State game was a virtual playoff game. Wouldn't have been if the 12 team playoff came this year. Georgia was #1 all year, missed the SEC title by a FG that bounced off the upright. Who gives a shit when they both go on. The PAC title game, yawn, just for seeding. Penn State would have been the #10 seed this year. Penn State, my fucking alma mater, did fuck all to deserve a playoff berth. Florida State acted like the biggest injustice since Sacco and Vanzetti not making the playoff. They couldn't have beat South Dakota State in the D2 playoff.

But don't those games just get pushed to the next week? Like ok, Ohio State/Michigan in the Big Ten Championship doesn't matter when they're both undefeated, but now you get to see both of them play in actual playoff games. I think most of the psuedo playoff games that we saw last year - Washington/Oregon, Alabama/Georgia, Michigan/OSU aren't playoff games anymore, but they're just replaced by more games. Personally, I preferred 8 teams not 12, but I'll take it over 4

Personally, I preferred 8 teams not 12, but I'll take it over 4 I'm not upset about the playoff expansion. It was inevitable. I grew up before the BCS, when the conferences and bowls were locked. Big 10 and PAC winners HAD to go to the Rose, SEC to the Sugar, Big 8/XII to the Orange, SWC to the Cotton. This year it would have worked fine, #1 and #2 in the Rose. But last year, the #1, Georgia, goes to the Sugar, probably against Ohio State. #2 Michigan goes to the Rose to play Utah. They both win, split title, which was pitiful. They both lose (in 1983, #1 Nebraska, #2 Texas and #3 Illinois all lost their bowl games) and it's chaos. My point being that every refinement to the CFB playoff has been an improvement. The 12 team playoff will be epic and a lower ranked team willing it all would be great. Like NC State winning the NCAA in 1983. But some of the luster of big is season games will fade when those games are just for seeding
