21 HOURS makes me nostalgic for the days when GGs went for DAYS! I was going to ask if that was because of the "three-posts-in-a-row" rule and having to wait for someone else to come to play BUT I thought better of it !
RE: Sparse player population: That actually happened on one early morning, everyone is busy doing something else, game. Only one player was there and then there were two having to take turns posting three at a time. Finally some more people arrived and all heck broke loose. Do not remember what the theme was or if the two early birds got the highest scores.

Nostalgia.......There were a couple of Garth Games on the old IMDB which required a second thread to finish. As I recall, the first thread became "read only" at about 600 replies.

Not a real death march but reminiscent of some of our longest games. I usually like to try to get 10 but I was out of breath! .
Congrats to all!

Ahhh memories, memories.
Fortunately our current situation allows us to go beyond 600 threads -- WAY beyond.

I think the reason Garth Games sometimes go quickly, is that so many players catch Garth Fever and just cannot stop until we get one more answer right, make the DDC, or nail that one elusive star!

Garth Fever, Dana !!! Take two aspirin, and call me in the morning. Garth Games causing insomnia? One cure -- get plenty of sleep.

I think the reason Garth Games sometimes go quickly, is that so many players catch Garth Fever and just cannot stop until we get one more answer right, make the DDC, or nail that one elusive star! Yup. That is how it works for me. Winning is nice, but sometimes just getting a few answers is all I can do. For me, the games are the highlight of my life. Living in a nursing home with only an iPad for amusement, the games make the day go fast.

Thank you, Linda -- and yes, participation is the most important thing. Winning is nice and congrats are always offered.
But in the monthly reports, participation gets the higher scoring, and the subject line after each end of game merely states 'completed.' It's also why the DDC was created -- to include more levels of success.
These contests now stretch across the globe, so that's why one-post-per-guess and three-posts-in-a-row helps slow it down so that more players can climb aboard -- and why the games are lengthy with 40-plus answers the norm.

It just dawned on me, that in this game, I got the first correct answer... and the last!! I consider that quite a benchmark in my Garth Games career!
