I confess that I have not seen Dirty Dancing. Of the two that I have seen, Footloose wins. It could for the creative opening credits alone.

Flashdance, which I am almost done with, is the most stylistic of the 3 movies, but has the worst script of the 3. The movie is really only worth watching for the cinematography. It is a Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer production and less than 10 minutes into the movie I am thinking "yup, that adds up." It is if Tony Scott directed a dance drama. I actually decided to watch it too last night. I think Dirty Dancing is okay for what it is. Footloose is one of the corniest movies ever made. And Flashdance... I fucking hated Flashdance. Jennifer Beals is fine as hell, but damn her character was annoying. Cinematography was good, sure, but the movie is almost literally just a series of music videos with a loose story around it. I think it gave me an actual headache. |

That kept my interest. I really liked the style of the movie, which is why I don't hate it. The characters and story are quite bad though. |

I am the exact opposite. I don't particularly like movies about dance. I myself don't even enjoy dancing. |

I don't know if I'd call DD the most unrealistic. Footloose is about a town banning dancing while Flashdance revolves around a 108 pound supermodel that works in a steel mill. |

Flashdance imo is one of the worst films of the 80s, and Dirty Dancing not much better (although both do have some good music) so Footloose by default.
