Poor Photoshop job on Black Panther poster has fans dunking on Marvel
www.polygon.com/2017/6/9/15768214/black-panther-poster
LOL! I just made similar comments on another thread. You have to take the bad with the good when it comes to Marvel. The Marvel/Netflix marketing outfit has better game than the movie division.
I like the statement the poster makes but, its execution could have been sharper. It's not a total disaster though.
There is a silver lining. This poster is a callback to another Black Panther.

Wait, that's the official poster?! When I saw it in the other thread I had assumed the poster had shopped it themselves! Wow that's bad.

It's too hard to make these posters visually interesting anymore?

I've actually been having issues with almost all MCU posters released this year, even GotG 2 and Thor Ragnarok. They've been looking kinda cheap and cheesy. Not to say that the movies themselves will be cheap and cheesy but... they've just been looking less professional?

Movie posters in general are something of a lost art these days, but some of Marvel's posters are just awful. The Avengers posters have always been a lazy mess of photoshop.

It all comes down to business. Posters hardly have the marketing draw they had decades ago and Marvel, along with every other studio, knows that. That's why they don't invest heavily in making really cool posters, because they know virtually every other method of film marketing provides a greater bang for their buck.

I don't see a problem. It's just a teaser poster.
And what is the "with marvel you have to take the good with the bad" quote about. What bad is there?

Now that I think about it I haven't really cared much for posters since the internet became fast enough to stream trailers. It's the trailers that really sell a movie to me, not the posters.

Because Marvel Studios, like any other human endeavor, is not 100% perfect. Although, my cosplay for SDCC is looking pretty damn close to perfect.
They're doing a fantastic job in almost every other category, but some of these recent posters could be stronger. As fandom ambassadors, it's our job to spread the word and make Marvel better; not to portray them as some untouchable, perfect standard. That nonsense is for other, lesser fandoms, ArArArchStanton.
If none of that resonates, think of it this way, aren't you glad it was me and not some over-grown troll ready to blow the whole thing out of proportion?SaveSave

While posters are no longer at the forefront of tentpole marketing, they still represent a cherished art form that people still hold in high regard. A good movie poster can be more memorable the movie itself. There is a very serious collectors' market for them. SaveSave

I actually like the poster. As do I, conceptually. It's a subtle yet strong statement about the film's direction. Black Panther will be about T'Challa's ascension to the thrown. That is cool for so many different reasons. The design of the thrown is excellent as is the fact that Boseman is on it and alone. It speaks to a mature portrayal of an earthbound monarchy within the MCU. That said, the costume lacks definition and Boseman's head was either tweaked too much or added in after the fact. It not as polished as it should be. I do hope this film turns out to be good. By all indications, it certainly looks that way so far. Let's regroup after seeing the teaser, true believer. SaveSave
