The final film might have cleaner language than the original in order to get a PG-13 rating. Not they I mind fewer F- bombs.

I like the original. I own the original because it was $5 on VUDU, and I love Keifer. That said, I'm surprised it's being remade. I'll reserve judgement until the trailers.

Ok so here's what I'm confused about. The trailer and the synopsis make it sounds and looks like a remake, but they are saying it's a sequel. The only thing that appears to be connecting them is the Sutherland character. Is this just a loose sequel that's more of a remake? I mean the movie is called Flatliners if it were a sequel why not give it a subtitle?

They recreated a lot of scenes in that to match the original.

Which is supposed to be out this fall or so. Apparently the trailer is arriving soon. Yeah, now they're re-making movies that were bad the first time around. It sucked then and its probably going to suck this time too. Whats the point?
I recently responded to a post where someone said that no one is asking for these movies. I wrote that we "asked" by going to the first movie in large numbers, hence all the remakes and sequels. But Flatliners was a flop THEN. Why would they think it'll be a hit now?

They missed an opportunity to cast Emma Roberts here.

Thats exactly what remake should be. Wait, you agree that they should remake movies that were bad in the first place? Why would that be of interest to anyone?

I think they mean that if the remake in question is derived from a work that wasn't acclaimed itself l, then the remake bears the responsibility to improve on the original and should be better as a result.

Well, I would agree with that in theory, but lets look at it in practice: Name a remake that has been better than the original...
The only thing I can think of would be Peter Jacksons KONG... maybe?
The Invasion of the Body Snatchers movies, again maybe, because each one changes just a little bit to reflect the era that they're in. That doesn't really make them better, but it at least makes them relevant.
But other than that I cant really think of any improvements other than in FX.

The trailer looks promising. I'm not sure if I'll see in the theater, but I'll rent it for sure.

I didn't hate it... I liked the horror tone it took in the 2nd half. Your past fears creeping up on you. A bit too much CGI. But it was okay. Plus a nice somber ending.

Made, released and forgotten. How does it hold up to the original, which I thought was great.
