Great in Hondo. Still one of the more menacing Disney villainesses.

My favorite Geraldine Page movie is "Whatever Happened To Aunt Alice?" GP is sooooo interesting to watch. Her tics and mannerisms. Such a mean bitch, but so funny at the same time. And Ruth Gordon is equally entertaining, making for the perfect foil.
Sometimes I prefer "Aunt Alice" to "Baby Jane".

Not that Baby Jane is boring, it is just a long movie. Aunt Alice gets right to the point and it is actually quite shocking with how it turns out for Gordon.
I love Page in Interiors and The Trip To Bountiful and while I was annoyed at the time that she won an Oscar because she was old and had never won one before, I hadn't seen the film. It wasn't a cinematic film, but when I did see it, I saw this talent on screen before me like I had never seen before and I actually liked the film and story.
Alice, Interiors and Bountiful are my Page go too films. The only other films I have seen her in are The Beguiled and White Nights, but it has been so long, I can't recall the performance. Oh and I started watching Pete n Tillie not so long ago, but only half an hour. Need to get back to it.

Oh, I love it when younger (?) people make these wonderful discoveries! I envy you that so much.
I saw the film in early 1986, after the Oscars had been announced, but yes, I was a younger person then. I pretty much saw most films that were released in that era.

Since I recently re-watched a a movie from the mid 1980s called White Nights 1985. so I've actaully seen a Geraldine Page movie at the cinema without knowing it. It's a rather thankless role were she only have to be worried or desperate in the role of Baryshnikov's characters agent, but still brings some class.

Haven't seen that one, tele, but it doesn't sound like I missed much. That said, with the exception of Hondo, every Geraldine Page film I have seen I saw in the theater when it was first released. I'm very glad for that. I can only imagine what it would have been like to see so many of my favorite films (to pick a few: On the Waterfront in the 50s, The Best Years of Our Lives in the 40s, and It Happened One Night in the 30s) on the big screen when they were first released. What a joy that would have been.
