My First Hitchcock and my #1 = Rear Window Others in no particular order and only six only because of the Six Limit : Lifeboat Strangers on a Train The Birds Psycho The Lady Vanishes Only one I have actually disliked is Vertigo and for whatecer reason, I have never taken to the 39 Steps or It Takes a Thief. While I'm not as fond of Psycho as the rest of the world is (I know, I'm weird), I applaud the choices of Rear Window (my first Hitchcock too and just slightly beaten for "favorite" status by Shadow of a Doubt), Lifeboat (superb), Strangers on a Train (equally superb), and The Lady Vanishes (my mother's favorite Hitchcock and one I've seen many times). I like The Birds a great deal--more than Psycho, in fact (and I don't hate Psycho; in fact, I recognize it as one of Hitchcock's best. On a personal ["favorites"] level, though, I just find it too cold and clinical for my tastes)--but it's never been a favorite for me. |

While it's not one of my absolute favorites, it was the second Hitchcock I ever saw (after Rear Window), and I still find it very good indeed. |
