Yeah, problem is Dortmund haven't been doing half decent since I made that comment; more like awful. Still don't think you'll tear the trees out with Grandpa Jupp, who's doing his best at every presser to convince everyone he's not wasted a thought on football for the past four and a half years.
Anyway. Results and table so far:

So when does the new Var system take on it's new approved nickname of 'Bravo'? ('Bayern Referee Approved Video Observation') There's a lot to be improved with VAR. But the problems with the DFB cup game weren't something that could be resolved with VAR. People like Zwayer have no business refereeing a Bundesliga game (let alone a CL game). That's a problem with the DFB, not with VAR.

The red card for Orban was totally deserved. Even RB's goalkeeper admitted that.

It was rather a response to thezahir1974. I didn't see that there were new messages on the next page of this discussion.

Bremen lost to Augsburg 0-3 at home. This will likely be the end of Alexander Nouri.
Meanwhile, DFB-Pokal, Round of 16 Draw
1. FSV Mainz 05 v VfB Stuttgart 1. FC Nürnberg v VfL Wolfsburg FC Bayern München v Borussia Dortmund 1. FC Heidenheim v Eintracht Frankfurt SV Werder Bremen v SC Freiburg Borussia Mönchengladbach v Bayer 04 Leverkusen SC Paderborn 07 v FC Ingolstadt 04 FC Schalke 04 v 1. FC Köln
You can't say Bayern are overwhelmingly lucky with the cup draw this season. First Leipzig in the 2nd round, now Dortmund in R16.
The games will take place 19–20 December 2017.

Another dubious red card against Freiburg thanks to a VAR interference, Mr Zwayer involved again, this time as the VAR.
VAR has a lot to be improved upon, that much is sure after 10 matchdays. It's completely unclear under what circumstances VAR should or shouldn't interfere, the rules set out when the project started (interference only if there's a clear misjudgement by the field ref) are completely ignored currently. VAR interference seems to occur arbitrarily, depending on whether either VAR or the field ref thinks it's appropriate. There are not less but more discussions now, and I don't believe there are fewer questionable decisions.
Anyway, final results and table:
One matchday and Hoffenheim is out of the top 4 and down to 7th. It's all awfully close up there.

Dortmund 1-3 Bayern. From five points clear at the top of the table on matchday 7 to six points off the top on matchday 11. One win in the last 9 games, and that win was in the cup against a 3rd division team. Amazing the speed this team has been turning to shit.

A few words on my favorite club from East Germany.
The average age of the starting XI today was 22.8 years. The CB pairing is 18 and 19 years old. Everyone with half a clue has Upamecano on the radar by now. The next one is Konaté. Free transfer from the French 2nd division.
Last season there were complaints the team can't come back after going down by a goal in a game. This season they've turned around three games after going down already.
The learning curve of that team is phenomenal.

Final results of matchday 11: Köln 0 - 3 Hoffenheim Wolfsburg 3 - 3 Hertha Berlin. Sacking the sporting director hasn't done Köln any good, still 2 points from 11 games. Bundesliga sack race predictions: Stöger and Gisdol in the pole position. Good results for my beloved "plastics"; Nagelsmann in reach of the CL spots again. Also good to see more and more Dortmund fans cursing Watzke and wanting Tuchel back. Bosz might join the leading group of the sack race soon. Another thing, because of the news of today: As I briefly mentioned earlier, we seem to have a big problem with the referee system in Germany, bit surprised it hasn't really made it to the English speaking media. Part of it is outlined in this article - the part relating to nepotism in ref appointments and mobbing, and secretly changing the rules of the VAR system without immediately informing either the clubs or the DFB: VAR, secret instructions and gagging orders: the Bundesliga's refereeing controversy | Deutsche WelleWhat this article doesn't yet cover is that Hellmut Krug, who has been dismissed as the chief of the field refs as a result of the accusations of favoritism in ref appointments and mobbing but is still in charge of the VAR project, has now been accused of overturning VAR decisions in his function as a VAR supervisor in favor of his home club Schalke. VAR supervisors aren't allowed to overturn VAR decisions, nor can referees be appointed to officiate a game of their home club when it comes to field refs. Krug denies the allegations, but Bild, who broke the story, says that VAR officials have told them this (Krug overturning VAR decisions) has been going on for months. What makes the situation worse is that it's Krug himself as the chief of the VAR project who gets to decide which ref is put in charge of VAR supervision in what games, so Krug is basically appointing himself, without there apparently being an authority to control his work as a supervisor.

It's really not that surprising if you look at how the DFB treats Manuel Gräfe. If you silence every critic with a gag order, remove him from the VAR team and threaten to take away his license, there won't be many critics left. This is to me more shocking than that Krug thought he could get away with it.
This is a case of nobody watching the watchmen. The way it looks these guys are totally at Krug's mercy who has far too much power and is protected by the DFB.
Maybe I'm paranoid, but I can't help wondering whether there's a system behind these latest happenings. First he changes the rules of the VAR system to give the VAR more power to overrule the field refs, then it turns out the VAR supervisor is overruling VAR decisions. This ends up with the VAR supervisor being the be-all and end-all in all parallel games, way more power and way more room for manipulation than a field ref ever had - especially since nobody knows what's going on in that darkroom in Cologne, and the refs being threatened by gag orders.
The DFL has to do something about it; the DFB is looking more and more like FIFA. There has to be an independent person who controls the VAR systems and who refs can turn to with complaints.

Bild says Krug has been fired both as the chief of the VAR project and as a VAR supervisor.

I think Hitzfeld will be Jupp's successor in summer.
