People say Penn overacted there, but it seemed like a pretty realistic reaction to finding your dead daughter to me. But yeah, Mystic River. |

Both films based on Dennis Lehane books, who also wrote Shutter Island. A prolific and compelling author.
Mystic River was darker, poignant and more tragic.
Gone Baby Gone at least had a sort-of positive ending.
Both excellent films. For me, it's a tie.
