For years now she's given every piece of Marvel marketing and filmed product back-handed praise while desperately trying to hitch her wagon to the DCEU. And you're right, her cringe-worthy social commentary is trite, superficial and almost always irrelevant.
She starts off her review by citing Black Panther's status as a "niche" character as an excuse for her own laziness and unwillingness to properly research the character. Then she goes on to relay a completely unrelated anecdote about receiving rain boots for Christmas. She has the attention span of a gnat.

Why does this thread presume the MCU is "owed" a degree of critical deference? I like comic book movies, but they're commercial fucking garbage with almost no real "literary" underpinning apart from the few exceptions that prove the rule, and McMarvel movies are some of the worst offenders in terms of being transitory, popcorn garbage. Does it really break your brains and melt your minds that much that a real critic who's serious about film scholarship wouldn't give a flying fuck about a single MCU movie? They're for kids. They're Disney movies. There's little "there" there on THAT level of analysis. They're not fucking Cohen brothers movies, you guys.
Get some perspective. You all live such insular "Rotten Tomatoes" lives that wouldn't know good, serious cinema if you saw it. It's like giving filet mignon to a guy who's subsisted on McDonald's for a decade; he has no context for it. That's this thread: "how could anyone not like the new barbecue rib sandwich?!" I haven't seen this video, but if I'm not mistaken she's not a fan of MoS or SS. Now yeah.......she went down the stupidest route to defend BvS.......so dumb, but she still doesn't hold punches if she dislikes something.
Her main issue is that she brings in external factors when she reviews a film or "discusses" news, and by doing so she loses credibility.
Personally I'm not a big fan of hers.
