Ranking these movies is difficult. My top 5 is pretty easy to choose: After that it's a lot of close calls. As far as WW is concerned I'm just glad to finally truly enjoy a DC movie for the first time since TDKR so I don't see the need to fight the hype or try to take it down a peg. Just let her have her time in the sun. Celebrate that it's good and don't worry about which movies are or aren't better. This I agree with, and especially not obsessing over where it ranks.
Since you brought up TDKR however, I will have to say, and this is legit my honest take on it, but that was a chore to watch. I found everything about it so contrived from the bank heist, to the cop who gets in the way of everything, and then they took Batman and Gordon out of the movie and there is this long stretch of downtime. I also have never understood the choice of skipping eight years or the theme of "ending the franchise". First it didn't feel like any sort of an end, and also the second film ended in such as way as to clearly set up a white color criminal as the good guy to Batman's bad guy. Bane was great. I honestly don't think anything else worked. It felt like he didn't take much time writing it.

Thor would have been so much better if only they extended it and gave more time to the following points:
1. Spent more time developing Thor's humility and turn of personality, gave him more time to acclimate to life as a mortal. 2. Spent more time developing the romance between Jane and Thor, which would develop Thor more thoroughly as to point #1. 3. Give Thor longer, more epic fight scenes against the Destroyer and Loki. And stop using freaking close-up, shaky cam techniques.
Had they done these 3 points a lot better then Thor could have definitely rivaled the Wonder Woman movie, maybe even been better since it had the better villain.

Yeah. I don't really disagree with any of that. I hate the time gap too; it felt very cheap. Also removing your protagonist (in this case Bruce/Bats) from the main story is never a good idea. And the ending did feel totally disconnected from everything that was set up in BB and TDK. It's far from perfect, but I still enjoy it despite its flaws. Its got great action scenes, excellent performances, entertaining villains (despite their very contrived motives), good themes, good character arcs, and great cinematography as well. I do realize it's a polarizing movie with glaring flaws, but it still ranks fairly high in my list of personal favorite comic movies.

I hated what they did with Ares and that actor didn't help.

I never really understood why TDKR was rated so high. Plot holes, inconsistencies and mistakes were everywhere. Fight scenes were horribly choreographed. Very little character development was given. The plot was weak. Pacing was dragging. The villain was just ok at best. I think the only reason it got rated so high was that it was riding the wave of TDK's success. Otherwise, I feel that even Superman Returns was a better movie.

I think the only thing really wrong with that one is the second half really dragged, but to your point, I think I agree, there isn't a WTF were they thinking moment like there are several of in TDKR, plus TDKR has the same dragging problem, so you might be right.

Actually, there are plenty of wtfery moments in Superman Returns. Like the inclusion of his illegitimate son. The film also has Clark knocking Lois up and then skipping town for a few years.

To be fair, that's not in the same "WTF" category as Bruce Wayne fixing his broken back by having it punched into place.

Don't you know anything about science?!

Ehhhhhhhh that's a different kind of WTF moment. Sure maybe they shouldn't have gone there, but it made sense within the context of the film.

It's a totally different type of WTF moment Raptor.

Of course, this means very unwise decisions were made in the making of both films. That said, I will watch Superman Returns ten times again before I see TDKR again. SR isn't a perfect film, but at least it was a genuine labor of love by a longtime fan of Superman that just didn't work out the way the filmmakers had hoped.
