Ok, I loved WW. Think is the only DCEU movie that's worth my DC stamp of approval. I'm an avid comic reader and I liked Mos but hate, hate, hate BVS because it is trash and so is SS. I agree with RT in all accounts.
WW is the first I can say that I enjoyed as much as reading the comics.
So... RT ratings agree with me. But I'm seeing a lot of threads praising the RT score.
So what it is it fake DC fans? (No DC fan worth its weight in salt would condone shit movies)
You can't have both you know? Either critics are paid and RT score is a sham or RT score does matter and all the DCEU movies are shit except the superb WW.

Critic ratings haven't been worth anything for a very long time. I've never said the RT score is a sham outside of jest. It's just that critics and RT don't matter. A critic's approval has never been what decided if a film is worth my time and a critic's word has never changed my mind about a film one way or another.

Yes, I know that. I even explained the exact thing to one of these posers. And I agree with you. I see that RT score, rating, percentage and I always check the average score also, on mobile I always hit the desktop site on RT because the movie one doesn't have the average. I'm just bringing this up because some of these posers scream faul play when shit like bvs gets a low percentage and now use the double standard and scream greatest thing ever because the RT is great, they tend to ignore the real average. But so far I have responses from two MCU lovers, I want to ear from the DCEU lovers that defended bvs saying RT didn't matter and now praise it.(no offense to you guys, I love the MCU also but I'm interested to ear from people that are the opposite of you. Or not, I don't think they have an argument, really) |

well.........there are 2 types of DCEU fans.
Fans in Group A recognize that the films aren't being received well, still manage to enjoy them (to varying degrees), and accept they like a film not liked by many.
Fans in Group B are a bunch of fucking whiners who go out of their way to discredit anyone who disagrees with their opinion.
the issue is that "people" in group B are too vocal and annoyingly represent all fans.

well.........there are 2 types of DCEU fans. Fans in Group A recognize that the films aren't being received well, still manage to enjoy them (to varying degrees), and accept they like a film not liked by many. Fans in Group B are a bunch of fucking whiners who go out of their way to discredit anyone who disagrees with their opinion. the issue is that "people" in group B are too vocal and annoyingly represent all fans. I think there's a group C. It's people who really really really want to like a film, and it's the only one they've got for their favorite character so they feel like they have to like it, even if deep down they really don't. Case in point, my brother used to love Daredevil '03, because there weren't many comic films at the time, so what choice was there. Now that there are tons of great films he realizes how bland that film was, and I suspect a large portion of DC fans are in the same boat right now. I mean they have TDK right there for comparison. They know the DCU is a step back to the Daredevil '03 days. |

LOLOL, it's so funny you mention that. I remember telling my brother it was a shitty soundtrack and he kept insisting it was awesome. It's hard to explain to somebody who likes the songs why just buying rock songs to put in a movie doesn't necessarily equal good. See Guardians for how to do that right. |

It's hard to explain to somebody who likes the songs why just buying rock songs to put in a movie doesn't necessarily equal good. See Guardians for how to do that right. Indeed! Now, I also admit to having a certain fondness for certain things in the old Daredevil movie, but there Netflix version blows it out of the ballpark, neighborhood, city, and state. |

No. RT is a very misleading concept. Metacritic is better. RT is a joke. A combination of both the RT and the average works well for me. A certified fresh with an average of 7 or more almost always guarantees I'm going at least have a good time, exceptions apply of course, but I don't have the time to go to the movies as much as I did and this screening process has worked for me, for the most part. I found out recently I dislike hyper real movies like Manchester by the sea or boyhood. I recognize the merit of the filmmakers but I find them rather boring. I can see why people like them though. I tend not to comment. |

It's really a win-win, where if they start making movies worth watching I'll be glad to watch them, and if they crash it will be a fun story to follow with people's reactions and all. I just have no real concern for DC at all. Whatever happens, happens. |

Rotten Tomatoes matter to MCU shills who like to boast about their perfect freshing rating records without acknowledging the glaring flaws of an aggregate score. Like someone said previously, metacritic is a much stronger barometer. And when you look at the top 10 comic book movies by metacritic score post 2000, it looks more reliable.
1. Spiderman 2 - 83
2. The Dark Knight- 82
3. Ironman - 79
4. The Dark Knight Rises - 78
5. Logan - 77
6. GotG - 76
6. Wonder Woman - 76
8. Civil War - 75
9. Days of Future Past - 74
10. Spiderman - 73
Only 3 MCU movies in it - the highest being a phase 1 movie which I think was MCUs golden era and after Avengers their product went extremely goofy and downhill.

Most people don't even understand how the ratings work on RT. I have seen/not seen exactly zero movies based on their critical review. I see your point here, as I also think WW is the only legitimately good DCEU flick to date. But my favorite movie (a major Hollywood production with an impressive cast that won an Oscar for cinematography!) is inexplicably rated rotten on RT. There are so many variables that go into a RT rating, not the least of which is recency bias and trending opinions as opposed to honest cinema critique.

droideka, in truth, the RT score is not scientific and does not really indicate that a film will be good or bad for audiences. All it displays is what a group of critics felt about a film or a the opinion of a bunch of fans that cared to go to the website to vote. With that being said the score is important because the website has successfully marketed itself to be a measuring bar for a film's quality and many moviegoers follow it. It is so important now that a bad score can cost a film up to 20% or more in potential proceeds. Paid critics or not, getting a positive RT score is important. |
