What horror movie cliché annoys you the most? I find it mildly annoying that in most snake person movies the snake person shape shifts from a beautiful woman to a snake then back to a beautiful woman. Is it too much to ask for a snake person movie where the snake person shape shifts from a handsome guy to a snake then back to a handsome guy?

Evil clowns. I get that some people are scared of clowns, but does every time a clown is in a horror movie, it has to be a monster or killer?

Ghosts that appear scary, threatening, and dangerous early in the film turn out to be good, helpful, and harmless in the end.

The pursued by a monster folks always run upstairs or into a closet or into the basement to escape whatever ! The front door is not locked, people !
IF they do go outside, they manage to trip and fall almost immediately.
Screaming as you run wastes your breath and makes it easier for "it" to follow.

The car that won't start when you need it to.
And not limited to horror movies - car collides with other car, both immediately erupt in flames.

And when the conversation is finally over, the person on the phone hangs up without saying good-bye.

Jumping / screeching cats.
Oh, and the tired old "medicine cabinet" gag.

The Dream sequence
The slow moving killer, who for some reason always seems to catch up to the victim.

Eh, well, let's be fair about being reluctant about wanting to try outpacing an inhuman monster out in the open. It's not uncommon for them to be able to run faster than people once they are out in the open. A house might be more cramped, but it also makes it harder for the monster to get up to full speed, and if the person is clever enough to do it, they can slow down their pursuer by turning everything in their house into an obstacle course.

The father of the family being the last person to believe the house is being haunted no matter how terrified his wife and children visibly are.

I've seen it time and time again...but whenever the shit is going down, the hero/heroine always runs up stairs away from the evil. Yeah...that's not going to get you away from the evil chasing you.

When a group of people come up with the brilliant idea of splitting up, even when knowing that every person killed thus far was by themself at the time.

Kids (who are clearly evil) saying/doing creepy things and adults just ignoring it/shrugging it off. It’s NOT NORMAL!

That happens every time even when one of the adults is being stalked by a mad priest ala The Omen. At least in the Exorcist the mom ruled out medical reasons for her daughter's unusual behavior prior to consulting a priest who wasn't stalking her.

When the monster is dead someone has to go up and poke it just to make sure.
Someone says, "Thank God it's over."
When the killer is trying to run over someone with a car, the victim runs down the center of the road.
The sole black or ethnic character won't make it to the end credits.
Rural gas station attendants are bad news.

Something bad happens to a character, cut to their reaction shot as they wake up in bed. This has been overused to the point of being useless.
