Leading gaffer John Higgins, who worked in electricals for Alex Cox in his early days, once indicated the best best boys and best girls were sometimes intrinsic parts of union units. A solid best boy always brings his 'A' game to the table but that doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't specialise in certain actions behind the scenes.
