Yeah. I thought it was kind of boring. Then again I'm far from a mature, well-adjusted adult.
What did you think about this film?

It was good but Contact (1997) was better.

Kind of torn on Arrival. Clever film but so much of it revolves around the twist that's telegraphed so it comes off more like an editing stunt than anything else (at least to me). It's great to see linguistics used as a plot device in a film, you don't see that often.

I liked Arrival. I like how in the end, the movie comes full circle. (see what I did there?) My husband, on the other hand, didn't like it nearly as much as I did.

I was disappointed. I enjoyed the scenes with the aliens and linguistics element but didn't care for the twist or anything to do with Louise and her life.

I thought Arrival was fantastic. Amy Adams was excellent and the film was well written and entertaining. I rate it 9/10.

Very interesting movie, definitely makes one think. Hard to say, somewhere between a 7 or an 8.
The logistical or at least honesty problems I found with it is that overall it was supposed to be a message of humanity working together and getting beyond our differences....yet the film itself was heavily divisive and rather political in nature, with a clear "conservatives are crazy and dangerous nutjobs" warning. Not saying I disagree completely with that or that the movie can't present its views however it wants to, but it heavily contradicted its own "unity" message.

Ya know? I really really liked Arrival but it didn't resonate with me like a good film should.

I thought it was the best movie of the last several years.

I liked it. But I dont think that makes me a mature adult. I like drama in all forms. A mature adult could watch the movie and still not like it for various reasons.

I thought it was solid overall. Just don't go into this film expecting an "Independence Day" type of film. It's more in the same vein as "Close Encounters of the Third Kind".

It's liberal propaganda bullshit. They want you to believe that aliens are different from humans, so they can go on with their propaganda of perverts of any kind. Any movie depicting aliens as different from humans is brainless liberal propaganda bullshit. In case you are mentally deficient, I must explain that no way an octopus can be able intellectually or physically have superior technology build. The only beings in universe that can conceive and build technology must have rational minds in rational bodies, therefore must be like humans.

Arrival was very good. Sometimes slow yes, but that doesn't mean boring! The twists with Max Ritcher's "On the Nature of Daylight" is a very emotional song and really worked with the film.

It was the most disappointing movie of 2016. Other than some cinematography, the movie did not work at all.

It was just on the right side of ok. That said, I do find Villeneuve films fascinating as I think, maybe, possibly, he has some kind of maybe possible link to the upper-crust of us earthly dwellers and that he's maybe possibly pushing their agendas in his films. So, with Arrival, he's maybe possibly saying the key to world peace lies squarely in the hands of the Chinese. Maybe.
