" On Monday, August 21, 2017, all of North America will be treated to an eclipse of the Sun. Anyone within the path of totality can see one of nature’s most awe inspiring sights - a total solar eclipse. This path, where the moon will completely cover the sun and the sun's tenuous atmosphere - the corona - can be seen, will stretch from Salem, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina. Observers outside this path will still see a partial solar eclipse where the moon covers part of the sun's disk." Here is a link to more information about the eclipse... www.weather.gov/source/crh/eclipse.html

I have had hotel reservations in Nebraska for over a year. Another thing that I can cross off my bucket list, a once in a lifetime experience.
I can hardly wait.

Seeing Baileys Beads, the planets, the stars, being in the umbral, the energy and excitement of the people around me. Even with horrible traffic the trip was more than more than worth the price. I am going to do it again in 2024.

A neighbor drove to a totality site in Wyoming and called me during the watching to share the experience.
He commented that many people watched the start and the totality and didn't seem to care about the rest of it and just wandered off and never looked up again..
Saw it at 79% from my yard and checked the whole thing out every few minutes.
Planning on Southern Texas in 2024 at a State Park.

He commented that many people watched the start and the totality and didn't seem to care about the rest of it and just wandered off and never looked up again.. Some stopped watching and walked away to start partying where I was in Lincoln. Most continued to watch though. Those that didn't care about watching the whole eclipse are what I call wanna bees. Their interests were not in this spectacular rare event, but rather the party and being able to say "I was there". To each there own, but they can not honestly say they experienced the event.
