next T hursday they are showing Birth of a Nation, I am not sure if. I want to see that or not. Definitely go see it. It is an important piece of film history, in fact it is an important piece of history. This movie could be made and turned into a massive hit in the 1910/20s.

Living in the UK in which scores of classic films have never seen the light of day on DVD, I'm forced to download many classics of the web in videos of varying quality. Ether that or buy pricey imports of region 1 DVDs.
We in the UK also don't have TCM to have back on. There is a UK TCM but it's useless; a small handful of films (mostly westerns) which are shown on a constant cycle along with reruns of Gunsmoke.

Almost always at home on a TV.
I am lucky enough to have a job that allows me to watch stuff when it is quiet but rarely do as work gets in the way. But when I do watch something at work it is just via the computer monitor which is a decent enough size.

At a movie theater? Alone? At home, (big?) TV, or computer screen? I prefer movie theaters, but where I live the offerings of (American) classic movies are pretty limited. So, I made my own little cinema. Projector and a 10ft x 7ft screen, perfect for watching classic Academy Ratio 133:1 features. While I do watch films with my wife, kids and/or others, I mostly prefer to watch movies alone. With others, I am always a bit worried whether they are having a good time. Also, I like watching them as a matinee most of the time, or early in the evening. But as an early riser, I can easily start off my Sunday at 6.30 AM with a John Ford feature Hello there... Down here at our place in Oz we (the womanfromplanetx) watch a film every evening.. zero television. An obsessive collector our ever growing home DVD library, which have been sourced from all over the world. Number one essential piece of equipment a multi region DVD player! Presently we watch mostly unseen subtitled Classic Era films from Russia, Europe and many other countries. I have sixty two countries represented in my collection at the moment. We love classic era Hollywood and enjoy a great variety from Tod Browning to Doris Day!, we often re-visit many American & British favourites when too tired for subtitles and demanding attention. Last night we watched a little 56 min British B film, Deadly Record. Having a home library is essential for us to be able to appreciate the world of cinematic art, we watch films of all genres and along with documentaries we have learnt, discovered and been stimulated by so much fascinating history, geography and cultural perspectives. Our nightly entertainment escape has become a ritual, it is a marvellous way to unwind after a gruelling working day.

I don't rent or buy movies, don't stream or watch on YouTube. I either watch one of my VHS tapes or watch TCM or another channel with older movies.

I like AMC and TCM, but watch all kinds of channels, not to mention the premium channels I have (though the premium channels usually don't broadcast "classic" movies). I'm single and very used to doing everything without company. Even so, I still think I'd prefer watching a classic favorite by myself unless I knew that I was watching with a fellow classic movie fan. Little: 10ft x 7ft screen.

Watch At home. Am trying to clear out the VHS collection while the VHS machine and the tapes themselves hold out. Problem is that the libraries and thrift stores keep insisting that I buy more more more ! The films in the Beta tape collection that were not also on VHS or DVD have finally all been dealt with and the machine still works (just in case I hit a bonanza in a yard sale).
Nothing much on non-cable tv these days other than the PBS British Mystery series so many older films are getting looked at.

Mostly watch at home, either from disc or downloaded files, regularly streaming from the hard drive. I have a HD blu ray projector which, with a large size output and multiple speakers, gives as close to big screen experience as I am ever going to get upstairs in my Man Cave... the UK market for old and collectible films is fair but most of my treasured items these days (foreign and older titles in particular) are downloads from dedicated blogs or torrents and it is surprising how much comes to he who waits. Viewing time depends, but I tend to use the projector more at weekends and the rest on the large TV, viewed from bed. I also tend to watch a few films on my tablet; these are often subtitled or silent choices, since the noise of the train during the commute sometimes makes soundtracks inaudible..

I watch a lot of TCM, in fact, I checked the schedule almost daily. Netflix has had a few good ones, but not many. I have several movie channels, a few show older movies, every now and then something I haven't seen shows up there. I do watch a lot of classics on my tablet or computer, sometimes you just have to see a movie when you need to see it. I also have Roku, it has a lot of old stuff, lots of crap but every now and then I can find a golden nugget. My favorite place to watch is in bed at night, mouthing along with the movie, like Cyndi Lauper in that music video.

Usually alone as my wife isn't really that interested in classic films outside of a few Bogart and interestingly enough Peter Lorre roles (she loves the Mr. Moto films). I typically have to wait for everyone to go to bed (the kids are usually wiped out by about 730). The majority of films I typically buy on bluray (or if they aren't available on DVD), but I have watched some via Amazon Prime or Youtube (particularly hard to find sword and sandal aka Peplum films).
I'm hopeful our next house will have a dedicated media room as our current one is just in the living room. I have a bunch of older Mcintosh equipment that I would love to set up for the sound system that just doesn't fit in our current living arrangement.
