I know that most of us won't get to decide or plan our funeral. Let us listen to the songs for our funerals. This song just broke me down.

The misheard lyrics version is one of the funniest YouTube videos I've seen, though you end up hearing them to the original version.

Not available online - Mike Oldfield - Hergest Ridge Part 2.
Funnily enough my second choice wasn't available for listening online either.

I want to be cremated as I firmly believe the land is for the living. m.youtube.com/watch?v=eawL6aJ2nBc after the commital. m.youtube.com/watch?v=yG0oBPtyNb0 For people to walk out to Lord of the dance for the hymn. As I loved singing this as a child at school prayers and my best friend hates it so I know it will give me a chuckle!

Well, that's a morbid topic if ever there was one. And not that I'll be around to care one way or another once I'm gone, which is why I'll leave it entirely up to those who are left behind. But in my "funeral fantasy" I have three pieces in mind, all by Bach and two from the St. John Passion. The first two during the service, and the last one - the pièce de résistance, Bach's organ chorale Vor deinen Thron tret' ich hiermit, BWV668 - as they carry the coffin out of the church.

@redruth - A certain someone on this board might think that first one is a dig at her... It honestly is my friend's funeral song, we're old punks so Ian Dury is a legend. It does also refer to a certain person here, I always think of this song when she's says something particularly mean spirited.

A very close friend of ours died recently and it's made us all think about our funerals and what we want but also how we want to go. My friend died suddenly of a heart attack, she didn't even know she had heart disease and I would really like to go quickly with no foreknowledge.

Nothing - have detailed unattended burial in memorial woodland, no coffin, no mourners.
