The Adventures of Robin Hood 1938 and Ivanhoe 1952, just to begin, but I have to give this subject a little more thought, and return at a later time with more titles.

MARKÉTA LAZAROVÁ (František Vláčil, 1966) Visually staggering Czechoslovakian medieval epic, a stunning masterpiece of classic cinema. Marketa Lazarova is about the desperate struggle for survival amongst the bloody savagery of the 13th century. A turning point from paganism to Christianity. Violence and vengeance plague the land, a beautiful but desolate snow-scape environment with roving wolves . No gleaming knights, wizened patriarchal kings, or castle-bound princesses, this is medieval wilderness with all its primitive violence. From the opening minute you are drawn into the midst of this dark age . A three hour epic, it is a film which may take repeat viewings to fully comprehend the vast scope of this magnificent work.

Alexander Nevsky (1938) Soviet historical drama film directed by Sergei Eisenstein. It depicts the attempted invasion of Novgorod in the 13th century by the Teutonic Knights of the Holy Roman Empire and their defeat by Prince Alexander, known popularly as Alexander Nevsky (1220–1263) who today is regarded as the main hero from Russian history. The film is renowned for its extraordinary battles especially the on ice sequence, this is based on the actual battle at a lake near Novgorod in 1242.

I love Robin and Marion despite the fact that he takes one of the great romances and two of the cinema's most charming charismatic actors and drains every bit of magic out of it.
Almost any Robin Hood appeals to me
Becket - the magic retained, a great script but still showing tsome of the gritty side of the Anglo Saxon life.
Braveheart- I really appreciated the cruelty and ruthlessness of Wallace's enemies.
Lion in Winter. Henry and Katherine two of the great characters of English History
These are Renaissance but
Anne of the Thousand Days- such beautiful performance by all
Mary Queen of Scots- a big brilliant cast led by Vanessa Redgrave . Beautifully done.

There are many film adaptations based the legends of King Arthur, the setting, late 5th to early 6th century.
Lancelot du Lac (1974) from Robert Bresson is an unglamorous depiction of the Middle Ages. Based on Arthurian legend and medieval romance traditions, it retells the tale of Lancelot and Guinevere's love as Camelot and the Round Table are torn apart around them.
A film composed mostly with amateur actors. Bresson's vision, his direction demanded a purposeful lack of emotion in the acting style, which he sought to reduce or eliminate the fanciful elements of the Grail legend

Favorites taking place between 500 and 1499
The Adventures of Robin Hood 1938 Christopher Columbus 1949 It's not a good movie but Fredric March is entertaining as Chris Rashomon 1950 Ivanhoe 1952 Prince Valiant 1954 A childhood matinée memory is better than what that movie actually is. The Court Jester 1956, a bit of comedy if you remember the challice with the palace The Seventh Seal 1957 The War Lord 1965 The Taming of a Shrew 1967 Macbeth 1971 Polanski version Kingdom of Heaven 2005 Arn: Tempelriddaren / Arn: The Knight Templar 2007 and Arn: Riket vid vägens slut / Arn: The Kingdom at the End of the Road 2008, it's another story of the Swedish Knight Templars, and also intervening how Sweden became Sweden, internal conflicts between wests and easts gothians (not the goths of today).
For some comedy Les visiteurs 1993, this Jean Reno comedy and follow ups is a bit hit and miss, but the funny parts are very funny indead. Old Knight time travel

Kingdom of Heaven (2005) hands down. I guess I really must see this one! Make sure it's the director's cut - it's much better than the theatrical version.
