I honestly can't tell you. My first impression was that Sony was just throwing stuff at the wall, and if they were going to make no effort to tie into a world that would obviously be beneficial to them, then I wasn't going to care about it, even if it turned out to be pretty good. But, if they are going to make that effort to die in, then I have to think they'll care about the product, will take some advice, and if it turns out to be an interesting concept then yeah, I'll love the fuck out of it. Declaring that your independently-produced movies, based on Marvel IP, are "connected" should not be a free lunch. It is absolutly vital that Marvel Studios spearhead all external-studio MCU productions. If this becomes a trend and Fox jumps on board, I guarantee you that both studios will quickly produce shit and slap an MCU logo on it. Pascal made a unilateral announcement that her dinky Spider-Verse is now connected to the MCU. That statement was not corroborated by Kevin during the interview and it has yet to be confirmed by Disney Marvel. Saying her side-verse is connected to the MCU is a dangle. She is trying to bring credibility to an ill conceived side universe that has no fucking hero in it. Protect the brand. That needs to be job one. Your enthusiasm will slow when you realize... it's a trap!! Did you see Feige's face when she said that? That was priceless. I wonder what was said after that interview in private. I bet he wasn't happy.

Not really. Having editorial departments with no connectivity did that. They divided up the big "families" of comics and they went their separate ways. Spider-man kept to himself, Avengers kept to themselves, X-men kept to themselves. That's why it seems like these characters live in their separate worlds. It wasn't until around the late 90s that they came back together under Bob Harras (X-men editor), but the damage was done and he kept X-men above all. I think DC has the same editorial departments, but they also have the characters stay together by connecting with the Justice League. what damage? They had great runs, and work well collectively.

Then you know the importance of continuity and world building. Poorly contrived "side story" architectures is what effectively displaced the X-Men from the Marvel family back in the 90s. SaveSaveNot really. Having editorial departments with no connectivity did that. They divided up the big "families" of comics and they went their separate ways. I think DC has the same editorial departments, but they also have the characters stay together by connecting with the Justice League. Well, whatever the reason, when you read X-Men comics from that era, they seem to have little to do with the overall Marvel universe. I recall a McGuffin called the Sage Perilous which literally hid the X-Men from the world via magic. Read Spider-Man books of the same era and you'll find regular appearances from Captain America, Sabertooth and the Hulk to name a few.

I think people are making up that he actually was blindsided or shocked or anything else they're saying he was. We don't know that at all.

We don't know what was going on in his head. We're all just speculating 🤔. I fell like he registered mild shock on his face for a split second or at least confusion.

It's possible, but even then we wouldn't know if he was shocked by her claim that they were connected, or just that she said it, or that he was ok with her saying it but thought she was planning to say something else, etc. There are all sorts of reasons I give shocked sort of expressions which don't mean I was clueless about the situation.

The damage as in they pushed all the other characters so far back that even trying to pull them to the forefront didn't help (Heroes Reborn). They had a small push with Civil War, but it wasn't until the movies that the characters became just a bit more popular than Spider-man and the X-men (because of those terrible Spider-man and X-men movies also pushing them back).

Civil War was absolutely huge and didn't happen until well into a series of great runs with Dissassembled, House of M, and quite a few others in that stretch. I certainly never thought it was a problem before that, or would defined it as damaged. I've honestly never heard anybody say that before until you.
