I had a friend who was in a band that said if he was ever on stage and anyone yelled out for them to play Free Bird, that they would play it nonstop for the rest of the show. Seemed a bit of an overreaction to me.

Yelling "Free Bird!" at a concert has become synonymous with "you suck!" My musician brother and I used to argue about that. I thought it was just a stupid, fun thing to yell, whereas he knew better. Then at a King's X show, someone yelled it and Dug Pinnick said, "Did someone just yell 'Free Bird'? Fuck you." I conceded the argument.

Haven't seen that before, just the part where he goes off at the female heckler.

I'd never heard that yelling "Free Bird!" was a way of saying "you suck!" I've heard it yelled before at shows where I'm almost 100% certain that everyone there was a fan and it was just meant humorously. I adore King's X, and I can't imagine anyone going to a show and thinking they sucked!
