I saw him once in L.A. He was all smiles. I first recall him in Space 1999 in the late 70's on TV. Ed Wood is my favorite performance of his, an Oscar for Mr. Landau, at last!

One of my favorites from his "Mission: Impossible" days. I had his picture up on my bulletin board.
i have run into him twice. The first time was at the old Tower Records Classical store on Sunset Blvd. I was fingering through Puccini operas when I noticed someone standing next to me. I thought it was my friend, but turned to find Martin there. He flashed me that great big smile of his and I was speechless. But I did smile back.
The second time was at the Arclight Cinema where the Cinerama Dome is. The AFI film fest was going on and I went to see a film that after 15 years, still hasn't been released, called "The Commission," telling the story of the Warren Commission investigating the assassination of JFK. It was fascinating as all the dialog was based on transcripts which gave an insight as to how testimony was skewed to give the outcome of the single shooter.
The smal theatre was only about a third full and most of the attendees were the actors from the film, which included Martin Landau. He had a very young blonde on his arm.

Happy Birthday Martin Landau! I too remember him well from Space 1999. It seems like that was a lifetime ago, which in retrospect, I suppose it really was. If you want to see him teamed up with Shirley Knight, spiderwort, check out that episode of The Outer Limits, The Man Who Was Never Born. It was a pretty interesting episode, but then again, they pretty much all were.

Martin LandauHappy 89th Birthday to Martin Landau on June 20, 2017. An Oscar winner still going strong. He did one of the best Outer Limits I ever saw--landing on a planet, where a monster was lurking in the seemingly peaceful swamp

My respect for Martin Landau knows no bounds. I would not dare miss a single episode of Mission: Impossible (or, as I like to call it, The REAL Mission:Impossible). Landau, along with his then wife Barbara Bain (who is also still living and active at age 85 – we might want to make note of her birthday on Sept 13) appeared in the first three of seven seasons from September 1966 to April 1969. Landau played the Master Of Disguise and got to perform the famous face peel-off scene on almost a weekly basis.
One other living original M:I cast member is Peter Lupus, who played Willy, the strong man, and got a large fan following as The Man Who Never Talked – he rarely had lines to speak, at least in the early seasons. Lupus had his 84th birthday three days ago on Jun 17.
The last thing I saw Landau in he was co-starring with Christopher Plummer in Canadian writer/director Atom Egoyan’s “Remember” (2015). He still has the stuff.
Happy B’Day to Martin Landau.

Mike, I'm amazed, though I probably shouldn't be: calling M:I "the REAL Mission: Impossible" has been a recurring joke in my family for many years. I second everything you've said on the great Mr. Landau, who is often my favorite character in M:I.
