That wouldn't make it better. That would make it just like every other (slightly lame) happy ending. Yeah, what Darabont gave us is a major downer, but I think I prefer it this way. It makes you connect with Jane and the agony of what he's done in a way you wouldn't if the marines steam in saving the day |

I wouldn't change the ending of Psycho, but it's always annoyed me that I knew it long before seeing the movie. I'd love to go back in a time machine with a pill that wiped it from my memory so I could watch the movie without knowing what happens.

Rear Window-- Thorwald never killed his wife (and the killing of the dog would be eliminated, too). Okay, maybe not too many people agree with me, but then I always liked the ending of Suspicion, too, as it is.

The Revenant Glass kills Fitzgerald. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Krennic lives, then Vader chokes him out for allowing the plans to be released. This was actually just the original ending before it was changed. The Dirty Dozen Lee Marvin's character dies, leading to a large memorial at the end with Jim Brown's character (who lives) and Bronson's character. It would've made for a more affecting and emotional finale with some heft. |

Pompeii The ash casting breaks off the two leads and they're inexplicably unharmed underneath. They embrace as the song Pompeii by Bastille kicks in and we fade to credits. Come on, that takes a lousy movie and lifts it to hilariously bad enough to enjoy for laughs-- even if you have to wait until the very end. Disney would've done it this way. |
