I agree with everything you said but, Wolvernie has been skewed in a certain way that suits Fox's movies. It's not a total disservice to the character but, I feel that it has painted them into a corner over the years. I would love to see the Wolverine of Agent of SHIELD, Enemy of the State or Astonishing X-Men on the big screen. You're right about Extremis as well. Fanboys bicker about the so-called injustice of the Mandarin but, IM3's real crime was not realizing Ellis' thematic take on what it means to be the Iron Man in the modern age. I do wonder what would've happened to Wolvie if Marvel did own the rights instead. I just don't see them making a movie like Logan or anything that would resemble the Old Man Logan story or any other famous Wolverine comic. In fact, I'm quite sure he never would've even made it to the big screen. He almost certainly would've been given a Netflix series instead like they've already done with their grittier characters, which IMO would've been a horrible disservice. Now there is a subject that is worth talking about openly and honestly. Could Marvel do a rendition of Wolverine that was true to the character? I admit, it doesn't seem likely given Marvel/Disney's tendencies toward humor and family values. That said, the "cult of Wolverine" makes this assessment twice as hard. He's both an X-Man and a very popular solo figure in his own right. I think the key for Marvel would be to start him off in his role as an X-Man. Marvel could give us the Wolverine who doesn't have to be cajoled into being a hero and doesn't feel like he's constantly drifting in and out of the X-Men's orbit.

At this point, I'm convinced the only reason Fox is still going for a F4 movie is due to pride and selfishness. Nobody wants Fox to make another F4 movie, not the critics and not the audience, at least as far as we can tell from reactions to the latest movie. Their F4 movies aren't making them that much profit if any, in fact they'd be better off just making a Silver Surfer movie. So Fox making another F4 movie does not make sense, and feels like they're only doing it to say, "Fuck you Marvel, we're making another F4 movie because fuck you". Pretty much. And we know it'll suck. They won't have learned their lesson from last time. It's almost like they're making their movies on a dare that they can make them worse than the last one. Critic: "There's no way you can make a worse movie than F4: Rise of the Surfer" Fox: "Are you willing to bet on that?"

Logan is overrated, nice tone and all but other than that its not that good. Its the X men version of the Dark Knight Rises. I don't care who makes the movie as long as its good. They just need good writers and directors. Max Landis and Josh Frank were the wrong people to take on FF,their movie Chronicle was trash. No, dude. Logan is awesome. Overrated-adj. A term used by people who hated something that most people liked yet still feel like their opinion is more valid than the vast majority. I like the X men movies but Logan was a letdown. If it makes you feel better I dont like Dark knight rises either

Logan was a great movie. But it was a pretty disappointing Wolverine movie.

I just really dislike the term overrated. It implies that everyone else is wrong for thinking it's good. Personally I think GotG is mediocre at best but I wouldn't call it overrated because I recognize that I'm in the minority.

Marvel could give us the Wolverine who doesn't have to be cajoled into being a hero and doesn't feel like he's constantly drifting in and out of the X-Men's orbit. That would be a good plan, but just looking at Daredevil I can tell you that Disney/Marvel would never make a Wolverine movie. I don't subscribe to the whole "Marvel formula" theory, but they certainly do have an established brand and it makes sense to preserve something that rakes in billions. This is precisely why DD didn't get a movie. He's a more popular character than Ant Man, Doctor Strange, GotG, BP and Captain Marvel yet he was relegated to Netflix like some unwanted piece of trash. It's because a darker character like him would subvert expectations and (from a marketing perspective) possibly damage sales for future movies. If people have a general idea of what to expect from your studio's movies than you make more money. DD was not a "general audiences" character and thus a liability and Wolvie would've been too. Fox may not have been completely faithful to the comic version but at least they made the movies and didn't discard Wolverine into the 21rst century media ghetto of digital streaming services.

Enrollment is mandatory. Classes begin whenever I happen to show up. Call me: Professor Ack! I've got a P.H.D in Trap Evasion!
