group sex comedies?
the only one that really sticks out for me is musicals. even the good ones usually don't click with me. it takes an exceptionally weird or subversive take for it to be something i'll revisit on purpose.
i give hell to romcoms and found footage, but that's because they're both almost universally halfassed or artistically bankrupt.

Prison films. They usually always contain the same elements. Man is wrongfully imprisoned. Typical gangs (white power, MS13 types, black power, and some wimpy guys that befriend the main character). Then there is the sadist Prison commandant or whatever you call him, and guards that enjoy beating the inmates or have some kind of inside deal with some of the prisoners. They all follow the same formula more or less.
I never thought about group sex comedies but I've never really seen any. Made me laugh.
Romcoms for sure as they follow the same plot elements usually as well.
I'm beginning to tire of gangster films also as they are starting to all seem the same.

I don't know what to call the first genre. Examples would include entertainment product like DATE NIGHT, BRIDESMAIDS, THE OTHER GUYS. Writers spend a couple of hours in an office just throwing out random ideas until the marker board is full. Then they call in the Old Pro to stitch it together into a script. If it needs padding he just repeats some skits.
Second would be the fake art film, titles that have built-in respectability regardless of their merits. THE SHIPPING NEWS, maybe CHOCOLAT.
Third: comic books, superheroes; a little goes a long way.

Films about stoners. There are a few exceptions (Big Lebowski, Pineapple Express) but generally I find films about them as boring as they actually are in reality. On the plus side, unlike stoners the films don't actually stink.
