We're here baby! OK - a day early but teams are wheelin' and dealin' 1. Sixers - Fultz 2. Lakers - Ball 3. Celts - Trade (3 here picks Josh Jackson) 4. Suns - Tatum 5. Kings - Fox (Queens get their man and don't have to trade) Who cares about the rest. Although I would like to see Dennis Smith Jr. go to the Knicks - think he's going to be a star. And interested in where Malik Monk goes. Thoughts? Predictions? Wants? Needs? Discuss.

I think the Celtics are going to draft Tatum. If they keep the pick, I'd much rather have Jackson. Tatum is a better fit, but Jackson has far more upside. I've always believed that you take the best player available. Drafting based on a team's needs is how you end up with Bowie over Jordan.

Very curious to see if there's a blockbuster trade - i.e. if they go after Butler or Porzingis This sounds short sighted and ignorant and I'll sound like I'm generalizing - but for some reason I'm turned off by Duke players - maybe I'm just jaded from Okafor. Tatum seems like a 'nice' player but I don't see 'Star'. Think the Celts need a 'Star' - they've already got Crowder and Brown at the '3'. Package some of those assets and go grab Porzingis.

I still don't like the Philly trade but I'm reserving final judgment until after I see what the Celts do in free agency. The plan will be clearer then. Come on Ainge old buddy, don't let me down.

I love Hayward. Everything points to him going to Boston to reunite with his old Butler coach. They sign Hayward and trade for Porzingis - that's an intriguing team right there at the top of the East for years. If I was a Boston fan - that's what I'd be praying for.

outside of lonzo ball, none of the hyped up top 10 picks were that impressive this year....gotta think there will be a few surprises.
tatum is not very good.

Okafor, 2 second rounders and cash - really don't think that's enough to get it done though. maybe a heavily protected future 1st as well - like Top 15 protected - and if it doesn't convey turns into 2 more 2nd rounders.

I don't think second round picks are much of a trading piece. So few of them actually make an impact for the team that drafted them.
Marc Gasol might be the best from the last 15 years, and the only thing he actually did for the Lakers was be a throw in on the trade that aquired his brother.
A trade that included 2 first round picks.

2nd round picks in basketball are like 7th round picks in football or "player to be named later" in MLB. Sure, every once in a while there's a diamond in the rough, but those picks have no value.

IMO Holmes > Okafor and our former '5' Noel who were both lottery picks - and not to sound too harsh - both busts. Sixers have 4 second rounders tonight. 2 in the late 30s I believe. i've love to package them and Okafor to at least move up into the early 20s if possible. sounds like Monk is dropping - reading mocks that have him going 11 or so......

Hey, I'd be all for that too, but any GM that accepts that deal should then be fired. Okafor's value is about the same as Mike Mamula's.

Newsflash - he wasn't projected to go in the first round. Jamarcus Russell - bust. Tony Mandarich - bust. Marcus Smith - just not that good to begin with. Anyway, back to the NBA. Only thing I'm looking forward to in the second round is to see where (if) Kris Jenkins and Josh Hart get drafted. If this was the NFL Bill Belichick would draft them.

You mentioned 'Belichick' - I feel the same about 'Pop' and the Spurs. I can see Hart on the Spurs What about Danny Watkins? Do you consider him a bust? We've had some real winners plucked in the first round

Lol, Danny Watkins. I don't remember how he was projected, but I guarantee it wasn't where he was picked. Someone didn't do their homework, they missed him wanting to be a fire fighter more than playing in the NFL. I blame the coach / GM more often when a player is a bust, because more times than not busts are really just examples of poor talent evaluation.
You know who was a "Bill Belichick" type NBA draft pick? When the Bucks selected Malcolm Brogdon. Kid was a 4 year player, player of the year in the ACC as a senior, good citizen, good teammate, smart player, unselfish. I would have loved if the Sixers took him. He was a diamond in the rough. Hopefully Hart and/or Jenkins can have success like that.

They brought in a 'psychiatrist' last year ala the movie 'The Natural' - to try to help him with his 'drops'. It's got to be mental. You listen to everybody on that team and they have nothing but glowing things to say about him - i.e. nobody works harder in practice than him. Did they announce rookie of the year yet - it was supposed to be between Saric, Brogdon and Embiid..... That's a good story that kid stayed 4 years at school and is up for ROY.

I'll hold up calling Agholor a bust pending what he does this season. He was actually decent in college. I think his issues are all mental. If he can't hold on to the ball this year then yes, I would call him a bust.
That being said, few players in the past, oh, 10 years or so, have pissed me off more than him, watching drop after drop.

Adam Silver could be a 'Walker' in 'The Walking Dead'........
