I feel a little silly posting this but I just found out the fight is going to be a boxing match. I thought it would be a mixture of boxing and MMA. A boxing match with boxing rules.
I don't see how Conor can beat Floyd in a boxing match. It will be a huge payday and I don't blame him for taking the fight. Boxing against a defensive counter-punching specialist?
I hope Conor wins because Mayweather is the most overrated fighter of all time. I do respect the way he managed his career to make money. He is one of the few boxers who won't die broke. He is very rich and he is hanging on to his money. Good for him.
He is undefeated because he ducked Manny for years and only fought him when they were both past their prime when Manny's skills had deteriorated more. He also faced weak opposition.
Sugar Ray Robinson, Thomas Hearns and Roberto Duran would have defeated Floyd.
I just don't see how Conor can win. Do you?
Possible. But very unlikely. Correct?

No. This is basically McGregor agreeing to lose to make more money than even he'd know what to do with, and Mayweather adding to his collection of his favorite thing to jerk off to -- himself.
There's always the hypothetical puncher's chance, but Mayweather is an especially cautious, patient and swift little fuck who has made a career out of making sure he doesn't get hit, both in and out of the ring. If he doesn't think he can win, he ducks and invents stories about the other guy not wanting to do drug tests before the fight. If he does think he can win, he still doesn't take the fight. Nope. Mayweather reserves his talents for fights in which it's virtually impossible for him to lose, then he goes home, finds his updated Wiki page, and faps to his new career record in between posting sub-English chest-beating messages on social media.
If it were possible to get accolades for knocking out kindergarteners, Mayweather would be found dancing on a pile of corpses belonging to 5-year-olde, screaming about how no one can touch him.

I wouldn't say Floyd is hanging on to his money... He gambles and spends like crazy. He's just kept his income alive.
Don't feel bad for anyone who pays for this "fight".

Yes xystophoros he is somewhat of a fraud. He is a very good (but not great) fighter. Floyd won one of his fights by split-decision to Oscar De La Hoya who is 4 years older than him. A peak De La Hoya would beat a peak Floyd. So would Julio César Chávez, Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns and Roberto Duran. Probably Manny too when they were both in their prime. Oscar De La Hoya is critical of the timing of the bout- www.mmafighting.com/2017/6/21/15848360/de-la-hoya-lays-into-dana-white-for-booking-mayweather-mcgregor-three-weeks-ahead-of-ggg-canelo

One thing left unsaid is the sorry state boxing is in if a joke card is going to steal the thunder of a good fight that's scheduled for three weeks later. It's not the same night, not the same weekend. Three weeks would be fine if boxing fans weren't conditioned to expect only 1 or 2 decent fights a year.

I agree with your comments on this thread xystophoros. I wouldn't, however, go so far as to call it a "joke card". Oscar De La Hoya is the only boxer to lose to Mayweather by split-decision. He is 4 years older than Floyd. I'm surprised Conor accepted a boxing match under the Marquess of Queensberry rules. I don't blame him for accepting as it will be a big payday. I would have too. Conor is a very good MMA fighter. He is a little taller and larger than Floyd. Considerably younger also. He does have a chance. Not a good one. He is a hard puncher. I realize Myweather will be the overwhelming favorite. I'd like to see Conor win.

Well Maywearhsr has lost a step, so we can hope. I don't like McGregor but I would be delighted if he knocks out that conceited, woman-beating, fight-ducking, self-worshiping, animal abusing piece of shit.
