What are some movies, set during the summertime, that are your favorites? Maybe you annually view the same summertime movies? Mine are:
Jaws Meatballs Wet Hot American Summer Summer Rental The Way Way Back National Lampoon's Vacation Vacation (2015) - stupid but fun
I also have some strange affection for those 60's beach movies, which was before my time but I like them. I watched most of them I hadn't seen last summer, so this summer I plan to watch all the Elvis Presley movies I haven't seen.

Lebowskidoo ππ·πMovie Quests are great ! I have embarked on some but it's easy to overdose and I found its better to mix the quest films with some that are completely different (especially if it's a musical type quest). Watched some of the Annette and Frankie beach movies last winter when it was very cold out. Corny, forgettable, but fun.

The Entertainer 1960, those British summer resorts with their amusements long out on piers and palaces from a gone era. Mr Hobbs Takes a Vacation 1962 Les vacances de Monsieur Hulot / Mr. Hulot's Holiday 1953 By the Sea 1982 British TV short, only sound effects and music with The Two Ronnies. (and those narrow rail trains) Hawaiian Holiday 1937 short, with Donald, Pluto, Mickey, Minnie and Goofy It Started in Naples 1960, Clark Gable is genuinly funny as the effective American trapped abroad on Capri. Vi hade i alla fall tur med vΓ€dret / At Least the Weather was Good 1980 Swedish TV, One of the funniest movies about summer camping in Sweden, offcourse everything goes wrong. Fun in Acapulco 1963, well Ursula was in it!

Lebowskidoo ππ·πI think that it's the BEST of the Jacques Tati films. The others are just a bit too "too" for me. This one has very little dialogue and is almost a silent film with sound effects. I hope that you see it and come back and say what you thought of it. I thought of another fav summer setting film which you may have already seen : Little Fugitive (1953) For me, it's a been there and done that film. I just saw while looking for the links that they "re-made" and "updated" the film in 2006. SKIP IT ! The charm was in the simple story and amateur and realistic acting in the 1953 version.

I tried so hard last summer to finally see A Summer Place and failed. And I realize it was just on TCM last week and I missed it again!

Dirty Dancing Jaws Rear Window I believe 12 Angry Men is set during the summer as well I love Rear Window, it was my very first Hitchcock film. I even didn't mind the TV remake with Christopher Reeve. And there have been some modern variations on it, like The Bone Collector and Disturbia.

Picnic is an old classic--The scene with William Holden and Kim Novak dancing to that impossibly pretty song is one of the great romantic scenes in movie history---although Josh Logan later admitted that in reality, not only could either of them dance, they also disliked each other during the entire filming

I like the sweltering New York heat in 'Dog Day Afternoon' (1975) and 'Do The Right Thing' (1989). Sweat literally drips from the screen.

Sweat literally drips from the screen. I hope you mean "metaphorically" rather than "literally"? Otherwise you had better get some new air-conditioning into your place.
