In the 1950s? No, she looked too matronly for her age. She did a movie in the 1970s with Joan Collins and wow, she looked amazing in that. Gorgeous. And she was already around 40 yrs old at the time.

Kim Novak was meant to be Harry Cohn's answer to Marilyn Monroe.
A thoroughly manufactured star.
IMO, her looks were so-so, and her acting was far worse than that.
Watch her performances in THE EDDY DUCIN STORY or THE LEGEND OF LYLAH CLAIRE and you'll see what I mean.

Yes, some of her performances were pretty mediocre...but then there is Vertigo where she is very good. |

I think she was beautiful, and used right she could be marvelous, as in Hitchcock's Vertigo 1958 and in the comedy Bell Book and Candle.
There is a swedish movie from 2005 "Kim Novak badade aldrig i Genesarets sjö" (Kim Novak Never Swam in Genesaret's Lake) a nostalgic and murderous trip back to the early 1960s, about two pre-teens who imagines that their new temporary teacher is Kim Novak herself who has come to their little village school.

I think her eyebrows render any opinion on her looks suspect. Those awnings are as distracting as Karl Malden's nose. I know she's blonde , that's about it.

I was wondering why you said 'was' and not 'is she' or was she once pretty... then I saw a recent pic of her. she could play the leading role in Mask [the Cher movie from 1985] without many prosthetics. god what did she do?
another 'perfect' looking person who saw something else in the mirror, it looks like.

my comments are sad because there was nothing wrong with her before. I see this often, people who are fine but don't think so when they look in a mirror. it is sad that she couldn't see the beauty she naturally had. not everyone is beautiful, so why chance what you have? heck, by the time Michael Jackson died, his NOSE was falling off! and a lot of what people were saying were kind of positive when you really read them... she should sue her plastic surgeon... she should. he botched the job seriously. and that was the only thing the site quoted her as 'read'. that's it? that's bullying? I need something more than that to stand with her against bullying. That wasn't bullying. in fact, in case she Didn't know she didn't look good/okay, that was good advice. |
