Both are BAD, but wooden is considered worse. Which do you prefer? William Shatner is ham, while the late Adam West is wooden. I prefer ham because it also tastes better, although I've never tasted wood...

Ham is at least fun wereas wood can be very boring.

Ham
Hammy acting can be fun and useful depending on the movie. I love Shatner as Kirk for example.

Nicolas Cage comes to mind as one example of someone who is all over the map, giving good performances when he needs to be subtle, but more often not. But he's crossed the line a number of times.
I voted for "ham", because that can be fun. And the hammy performances tend to be found in the guilty pleasures (Eddie Redmayne in Jupiter Ascending).

Wooden is the worst thing.

Hamming it up can be fun.
A wooden performance takes you completely out of the movie and moment. Some actors are good at being a bit woody, though.

This. It depends on the role and the film, really. A wooden performance will kill a comedy but is passable in drama; a hammy performance can work in a comedy but could ruin a serious drama.

I prefer Ham, since it's more fun, in fact hammy acting is almost as much fun as a Smena Symbol camera...

Ham, I guess. I'd rather see an actor give too much to a role rather than too little. Hammy performances can be fun, wooden ones are just plain boring.
