was it going to be anything else? it's possible they were getting slammed with NC-17 LOL, I very strongly doubt it was going to be that Extreme!

No, ha, not like that, I mean sometimes excess of violence or sexuality may lead to an NC17, for example the first Scream movie got hit with an NC17 because of the stabbings in the kitchen towards the end, because were considered too graphic, so Craven I believe reframed the shots. So maybe there are a few shots which are considered too graphic, gratuitous, etc.

I expected it would be R rated just from the gal on gal "action" contained in the red band trailer at one point.

It could have been the opening with Drew's boyfriend that was trimmed, because there was a mention of how the blood couldn't be moving or dripping....idk. so you could be right, I might have to rewatch the documentary.

LOL, Not unless it was really serious gal on gal action which I seriously doubt will happen even after seeing all of the trailers, that scene will probably really only be about 30 to 45 seconds long and that is it. It is more than likely that it got the "R" Rating because of all of the violence and language in the movie.
