This site happily lacks the neverending supply of asexually reproducing consensusbots which made the old MG so irksome on a fairly regular basis, so I think we all understand that no artist is universally popular, but lots of people do seem to like the Beatles, the Clash, Ride, Slowdive, Patti Smith, the Who and Frank Zappa (to name but a few particularly egregious examples) a lot more than I do. Which is to say not at all.

Hard to mention just one, feol. I know it's all taste and subjective, ear of the beholder type stuff...but for me:
Gotta go with Zappa, considered great by a few, and fair play to them, indeed some friends I respect adore him....but to moi...his music is 95% unlistenable, unfunny, smug and cacophonous. But that's just me.
Kanye West's 'output' is similar for me also, but wheras Zappa himself [despite my dislike of his music] was an interesting bloke, West is ironically entertaining with his incomprehensible rants, bullish behaviour and alround unpleasantness....Albeit he has been quiet lately.

Bruce Springsteen. I've tried to like him, I just don't. I kinda like Tenth Avenue Freezout and Cover Me, but outside of those I got nothing.

I'm gonna get grilled for this, but... most classic rock and similar genres. The Beatles, Beach Boys, Rush, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, etc.
To be fair, I haven't given those last two much of a chance.

Rebecca Black? Since when has she been considered great? 95% of the time I hear her name mentioned it is in a negative context. I agree with you on Rage Against the Machine. The perfect band for stupid people who think they're smart, just as Bill Hicks was to comedy.
