No it doesn't need to be. We don't know anything about the direction they want to go or how it will play in. I've heard it may be set in the future. They could introduce the symbiote any time between now and whenever that time is if they felt they needed it. |

They can mix Secret Wars into Infinity War. Have him get the symbiote and by the end of the 2nd part he gets rid of it while on Earth. That leads into the Venom movie. They can even do a backstory in Venom that happens before Infinity War about Spider-man "ruining" Brock's life (if that's who Hardy is playing).
