Which of these two do you consider to be the second-best shark film? Neither comes anywhere close to Jaws (1975). The Shallows (2016) was actually better than I thought it was going to be. The CGI was some of the BEST I've EVER seen. Loved the jellyfish scene. The WORST CGI or special-effects scene was the shooting of the Great White with the flare gun and setting him/her on fire. Although it was still fucking cool! However, I still much prefer Deep Blue Sea (1999). I have not seen 47-Meters Down (2017), so I didn't include it. All other shark films SUCK so none of them are included either.

Funny how even so many years after Jaws, there hasn't been a decent shark movie. I'd say Jaws 2 is better than most of these new shark movies.

I preferred The Shallows, even with its rather ridiculous climax. Up until then it was a pretty good survival tale. Deep Blue Sea, despite some good moments, just always came off as silly to me.

At least Deep Blue Sea is cheasy action. The Shallows just had Blake Lively.

Deep Blue Sea is a lot of fun. Stupid, but it doesn't take itself remotely serious. That Samuel L. speech is still one of the best surprise scenes out there.
I hate The Shallows. Two acts of blandness with a third that completely browns the bed, and the ending has the worst use of Sia since Cyberbully. 47 Meters is much better.

I never really got the cult following surrounding Deep Blue Sea. It's dumb fun but it's no Anaconda or Congo. The Shallows has a thin-ass plot but it's a far better film.

I'm going for Deep Blue Sea because cheesy absurdity by the shovelful.
Also fun fact - the three sharks in Deep Blue Sea all die in the same ways in the same order as the first three Jaws sharks. How can you not like that?

The Shallows was beyond awful.
Deep Blue Sea wasn't great but it was more entertaining.

Deep Blue Sea is better and that mechanical shark they created was amazing.
Though I think Jaws 2 is the second best shark movie.

Deep Blue Sea
and I'll tell you why - It actually succeeded at what it was trying to do, unlike The Shallows.
Open Water is also better than The Shallows.

You don't actually think Deep Blue Sea is meant to be taken seriously...do you?

Hmm...that's a good one. For now I'll go with Deep Blue Sea as well, but I liked The Shallows for telling a simple survival story with a badass protagonist.

The Shallows was great, hardly the most unrealistic shark movie out there either, if you can't find one, you're not trying.
