I went for a job interview at a music store once and joked about Iron Maiden being bad. I didn't get the job.

Well they (Iron Maiden) are bad. That's one opinion. It does not happen to be mine.

I wouldn't say I make fun of them, but I form a certain opinion of their personality based on their musical taste. I can't identify with someone who cannot relate to the rage in a song like Stabbing Westward's "Save Yourself". I most certainly do listen to mellow stuff depending on my mood, but someone who never rocks is not my kindred spirit. (P.S. I love Iron Maiden.)

Not to their faces. I do reserve the right to snigger at Ed Sheeran fans behind their backs though.

I can't speak about people who listen to NSYNC when I listened to a lot of embarrassing stuff myself when I was a teenager.

Do you ever make fun of peoples music taste? I try not to. It's pretty bad behavior. In addition to inadvertently offending someone who unbeknownst to you likes whatever you're criticizing, it also makes you look like a stuck up asshole. Two good reasons not to do it.

Given some of the crap I listen to, I have no right criticising other's taste in music.

No, with one exception* *Anyone who thinks Iron Maiden is bad deserves all the ridicule that can be thrown at them.

Not at all since I listen to a wide variety of music myself, but you can pretty much gauge somebody's personality from the type of music they enjoy.
For example, I like music from the 1980s and 1990s. Somebody would probably assume that I'm retro, or a bit old-fashioned, perhaps even a bit nostalgic. That's because I grew up with those songs.
